Nvidia set to lead GPU market in January 2025

Nvidia could dominate the GPU market in January 2025 with the launch of the RTX 5080, as AMD faces delays and Intel expands its lineup.

January 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting month for PC enthusiasts, with Nvidia, AMD, and Intel all ready to update their graphics card lineups. According to a report from HKEPC, a Hong Kong-based media outlet, Nvidia’s RTX 5080 is expected to launch on January 21. This could give Nvidia a significant advantage in the GPU market, as AMD appears to be facing delays in ramping up its production and availability.

With the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 just around the corner, it’s clear that January will be a key month for tech announcements. Nvidia is preparing to launch its RTX 50-series, AMD is rolling out its RX 9000 series, and Intel plans to expand its Battlemage lineup with a new GPU. Intel has confirmed its launch date for January 16, but Nvidia seems poised to follow just a week later, assuming the rumours hold.

New GPUs expected from Nvidia, AMD, and Intel

If the RTX 5080 does launch on January 21, many speculate that the RTX 5090 could arrive shortly after, on January 28. However, some insiders predict the RTX 5090 might not be available until mid-February. Other models, such as the RTX 5070 and possibly its Ti variant, are expected to debut later, with late February being a likely timeframe. Current rumours suggest Nvidia could release three to four GPUs within two months, giving them a significant head start over competitors.

On the AMD side, availability might lag. Reports from VideoCardz and other sources, including Board Channels, indicate that AMD’s RX 9000 series will see limited stock initially, much like the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. While the RX 9070 XT is rumoured to launch in late January, widespread availability may not happen until February.

Only two models have been mentioned so far for the rest of AMD’s lineup: the RX 9070 XT, based on the Navi 48 die, and another GPU featuring Navi 44, likely the RX 9060 XT. A non-XT version of the RX 9070 may also be in the works, but these cards are not expected to hit the market until March.

Nvidia could dominate in early 2025

If these reports prove accurate, Nvidia might have an early advantage in the GPU market 2025. With both the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 potentially launching unchallenged, Nvidia could capture the attention of PC builders and gamers alike. Meanwhile, AMD’s slower rollout and limited availability could make competing during the critical early months of the year difficult.

The coming weeks will likely bring more clarity, particularly with CES 2025 starting soon. Until then, Nvidia is well-positioned to dominate the GPU landscape, at least for the start of the year. Stay tuned for more updates as these highly anticipated launches draw closer.
