Google unveils Pixel 10 Pro Fold, its most durable foldable yet

Google launches the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, its most durable foldable phone yet, featuring upgraded cameras, AI tools and a stronger hinge.

Google has announced the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, calling it its most durable foldable phone to date. The new device introduces a reengineered hinge, upgraded displays, improved cameras and the latest AI-powered features, all driven by the company’s Tensor G5 processor.

Upgraded design and display

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold features a new gearless hinge that Google says is twice as durable as its predecessor, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The phone is also the first foldable to be rated IP68 for water and dust resistance, placing it on par with the rest of the Pixel 10 range. Built from aerospace-grade aluminium, the phone is available in Moonstone and Jade finishes.

Its Super Actua Flex Display has been redesigned with ultra-thin glass and two layers of anti-impact film for greater protection. Google claims the phone can withstand over 10 years of regular folding. The foldable boasts an 8-inch inner display, the largest on a foldable phone, and a 6.4-inch outer display made possible by slimmer bezels. Both panels can reach up to 3000 nits, ensuring clarity even in bright outdoor conditions.

Battery, performance and AI features

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is equipped with Google’s biggest battery in a foldable device, offering more than 30 hours of use. The phone supports faster wired charging that reaches 50% in 30 minutes. It is also the first foldable to include Qi2 wireless charging with Pixelsnap magnetic technology, allowing accessories like the Pixelsnap Charger with Stand or Pixelsnap Ring Stand to attach securely, even when the phone is unfolded.

At its core is the Tensor G5 chip, delivering improved performance, enhanced camera capabilities and advanced AI tools. Users will find the same AI-powered features available across the Pixel 10 series, including Gemini Live, Magic Cue and Daily Hub. Photography functions such as Add Me, Best Take and Camera Coach also benefit from the upgraded processor.

Camera and software enhancements

Photography remains central to the Pixel experience. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold comes with a 48MP main sensor as part of a triple rear camera setup, offering Macro Focus, 20x Super Res Zoom and Rear Camera Selfie. A new Instant View feature lets users preview photos immediately when the phone is unfolded, ensuring a chance to retake shots if needed. This joins existing foldable-specific features like Dual Screen Preview, Made You Look and Tabletop Mode.

The phone’s large inner display also supports new multitasking options. Split Screen lets users run two apps at once, with adjustable sizing, while Drag and Drop simplifies moving files between apps. Gaming sees improvements with controller support on the outer display, enhancing titles such as Asphalt Legends and Disney Speedstorm. Streaming services including Netflix and Disney+ have been optimised for the larger screen format.

Availability

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is available for pre-order now and will officially launch on 9 October. Customers can register for updates and check availability through the Google Store.
