Liverpool FC partners with PayPal as official digital payments provider

Liverpool FC names PayPal its official digital payments partner in a new multi-year deal focused on loyalty rewards and fan experience.

Liverpool FC has entered a multi-year global partnership with PayPal, marking the company’s first collaboration with a Premier League club. The agreement positions PayPal as the club’s official digital payments partner and strengthens its role in offering secure and flexible payment options for supporters around the world.

Expanding digital payments for supporters

PayPal currently serves more than 400 million active accounts across 200 markets and processes transactions in 25 currencies. Its new partnership with Liverpool FC will expand how fans use digital payments across the club’s online and offline platforms. PayPal will now become the club’s preferred digital payment method and will be integrated more prominently across checkout and payment screens on Liverpool FC’s ecommerce and All Red channels, offering a smoother and more secure way to complete purchases.

Supporters visiting Anfield and St Helens will also see increased PayPal visibility during matches, reflecting the deeper integration across matchday touchpoints.

Introducing loyalty rewards through PayPal+

A key feature of the partnership is the introduction of PayPal+, the company’s first free loyalty programme. Fans who enrol in PayPal+ can earn reward points when using PayPal to pay for matchday purchases. The programme includes tiered benefits, starting from Blue and progressing to Gold and Black as members accumulate points. Higher tiers offer increased reward value at checkout and access to exclusive Liverpool FC experiences. Gold and Black members can receive points worth up to 50 per cent more, giving supporters added incentive to use PayPal during club-related purchases.

According to Liverpool FC, this approach aims to enhance fan engagement while making everyday transactions more rewarding.

Supporting women’s football and grassroots development

The collaboration will also extend to broader community and development efforts. Liverpool FC and PayPal plan to work together on projects that support LFC Women and advance grassroots football programmes through the LFC Foundation. The goal is to nurture emerging talent and strengthen pathways that help grow the sport at all levels.

Ben Latty, Chief Commercial Officer at Liverpool FC, said: “PayPal is the original brand known for trust in digital payments, and we’re delighted to welcome them to the LFC family. Their expertise in powering payments around the world makes them the ideal partner to help us elevate the experience for supporters worldwide.”

Latty added that the partnership reflects the club’s commitment to innovation and secure digital experiences, while also aligning with its values in promoting women’s football and community development.

Geoff Seeley, Chief Marketing Officer at PayPal, said: “Our global collaboration with LFC reinforces our relationship with sports fans everywhere, building on our world class professional and collegiate sports partnerships around the world. We’re offering customers a seamless and flexible experience that rewards them for doing something they love, whether buying the new kit or grabbing a pint at the match and settling up with friends later—PayPal is the smarter way to pay for LFC and sports fans globally.”
