Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 leak points to slimmer design and brighter display

Fresh leaks have revealed what could be Samsung’s next flagship smartwatch ahead of the company’s Galaxy Unpacked event, offering a detailed look at the rumoured Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and its possible hardware upgrades. The latest information comes from well-known tipster Evan Blass, who shared a collection of marketing-style renders and specifications through his Leakmail newsletter.

The leaked material suggests Samsung has focused on refining the design while improving battery life, display brightness and durability. Although Samsung has not confirmed any details, the images provide one of the clearest previews yet of the upcoming wearable, which is widely expected to be unveiled during Galaxy Unpacked on 22 July.

Leak reveals a slimmer and tougher smartwatch

The newly leaked renders show the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 from multiple angles, giving a closer look at its overall design. While the smartwatch appears to retain the rugged styling introduced with the previous Galaxy Watch Ultra, the new model is said to feature a noticeably slimmer body.

According to the leaked specifications, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will be around 12% thinner than its predecessor. If accurate, the reduced thickness could improve comfort for everyday wear while preserving the premium, outdoor-focused appearance that defines Samsung’s flagship smartwatch range. The renders also indicate that Samsung has kept the familiar circular display within a squircle-shaped case, alongside the distinctive side buttons seen on the current model.

Durability may also receive an upgrade. The leak claims the smartwatch will carry an IP69K rating for dust and water resistance, an improvement over the IP68 certification of the 2025 Galaxy Watch Ultra. Although both ratings indicate strong protection, IP69K is designed to withstand higher-pressure and higher-temperature water exposure, potentially making the device more resilient in demanding environments. The smartwatch is also expected to continue offering 10 ATM water resistance and sapphire crystal protection, based on previous leaks.

The battery and display could see significant improvements

One of the biggest reported upgrades concerns battery capacity. The leak suggests the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will feature an 800mAh battery, replacing the 590mAh unit found in the previous generation. A larger battery, combined with a newer processor, could help extend battery life without increasing the watch’s size.

Earlier reports had hinted at a battery rated at around 784 mAh, which Samsung could market as 800 mAh. While official endurance figures remain unknown, the increase has raised expectations that the smartwatch could deliver noticeably longer use between charges, particularly for users who rely on GPS tracking, health monitoring and other power-intensive features.

The display is also expected to receive a substantial boost. The leaked marketing material claims the smartwatch will offer peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits, compared with 3,000 nits on the existing Galaxy Watch Ultra. Such an improvement would make the display easier to view in bright outdoor conditions, which is especially useful for runners, cyclists and hikers using the watch in direct sunlight.

Beyond brightness, Samsung is expected to retain its premium AMOLED display technology, although no changes to screen size or resolution have been mentioned in the latest leak. Most of the reported improvements appear to focus on visibility, efficiency and battery performance rather than a complete redesign.

New processor expected ahead of official launch

Performance upgrades are also expected to play a major role in Samsung’s next smartwatch generation. According to Evan Blass, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite processor. The same chipset is also expected to appear in the upcoming Galaxy Watch 9, supporting previous reports about Samsung moving away from its Exynos wearable processors for this generation.

The Snapdragon Wear Elite platform is expected to deliver better performance, improved power efficiency and support for new software features. Qualcomm and Samsung have previously confirmed that future Galaxy Watch devices will adopt the new chipset, although Samsung has not officially confirmed which models will receive it first.

Despite the growing number of leaks, several important details remain unknown. Samsung has yet to confirm pricing, regional availability or the complete feature list for the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Those details are expected to be revealed during Galaxy Unpacked, where the company is also anticipated to introduce the Galaxy Watch 9 alongside its latest foldable smartphones. Until then, the leaked specifications should be treated as unofficial, even though they originate from a source with a strong history of accurate Samsung product leaks.
