Singapore Polytechnic (SP) student entrepreneurs presented their startups and innovations at the SP Pavilion during the Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH) 2025. The showcase reflected SP’s commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to address real-world challenges.
Videotto turns long videos into viral clips
A standout at the event was Videotto, an AI-driven video automation platform co-founded by students from SP and Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP). The startup recently secured venture capital funding to accelerate its next phase of growth. Videotto’s technology transforms long-form videos such as live streams, podcasts, and interviews into short, high-performing clips optimised for social media channels. This allows content creators, agencies, and live stream sellers to multiply their output without expanding editing teams.
The company is led by Tay Yao Ming, an SP student from the Diploma in Engineering with Business programme, and Ian Lee, an NP student from the Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering course. They are supported by AI specialists Felix Isaac Lim from SP’s Diploma in Applied AI and Analytics, and Chong Kah Hian from SP’s Diploma in Information and Technology. Together, the team developed a platform capable of converting hours of raw footage into ready-to-post social content within minutes, showcasing how AI can streamline digital content production.
Students harness AI for real-world innovation
Singapore Polytechnic’s presence at SWITCH 2025 highlighted how young entrepreneurs are using AI to create impactful, real-world solutions. Several student-led startups focused on improving daily experiences and operational efficiency across different sectors.
SnapRent, for instance, is a smart, AI-powered rental platform that connects users for short-term item rentals. The platform promotes resource sharing and sustainability while offering users a more affordable way to access items they only need occasionally.
Another startup, Rehabify, leverages computer vision and AI to enhance physiotherapy and active ageing. Its interactive platform gamifies rehabilitation exercises, turning them into engaging, motivating activities. Representing the startup at SWITCH 2025 was Lim Jian Ping from SP’s School of Computing, who also leads business development for the venture.
Broby Pets, founded by SP’s School of Business students Hyuga Kuramochi and Caleb Yap Keane Yang, demonstrated how AI can support veterinarians. The startup’s AI medical scribe generates real-time, professionally formatted consultation notes during veterinary sessions, allowing practitioners to focus more on patient care while reducing administrative workload.
Bucha Scoops adds a refreshing twist
Beyond tech innovations, SP also featured Bucha Scoops, an F&B startup offering kombucha sorbet made from natural, plant-based ingredients. The team’s goal is to provide a healthier, guilt-free dessert alternative that appeals to wellness-conscious consumers.
Bucha Scoops has already participated in public events such as the Bukit Batok National Day Fair and catered to various student club activities. Looking ahead, the team plans to enter Singapore’s mass market, explore brand partnerships, and pursue long-term collaborations with larger companies. Their vision also includes introducing their kombucha sorbet to international markets and even on airline menus.
Singapore Polytechnic’s participation at SWITCH 2025 showcased the institution’s dedication to nurturing innovation and entrepreneurial talent. By providing platforms like the SP Pavilion, SP continues to empower students to apply their knowledge and creativity in ways that drive meaningful change across industries.
