Apple Intelligence is expected to arrive with iOS 18.1 in October

Apple’s latest AI advancements, or Apple Intelligence, are not anticipated to launch alongside the public releases of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 in September. However, you may not need to wait too long, as Apple is planning to introduce Apple Intelligence with iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1, expected to be released by October. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, developers could start experimenting with the beta versions of these updates as early as this week.

Staggered feature rollout

Apple Intelligence will not initially deliver its complete range of features. Some functionalities, such as the AI-powered Siri, are predicted to be introduced later in the year. Gurman has noted that these updates could even be delayed until next year. This phased rollout means that users will gradually experience the full potential of Apple Intelligence over time.

Device compatibility

When Apple Intelligence finally arrives, it will not be compatible with all devices that support iOS 18. Apple has specified that Apple Intelligence requires a device equipped with an A17 Pro processor or an M-series chip. This requirement excludes all recent iPhone models except for the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, limiting the availability of these advanced AI features to the latest hardware.
