AMD launches Ryzen Embedded 9000 Series for next-generation industrial computing

AMD launches the Ryzen Embedded 9000 Series, delivering high performance, energy efficiency, and long-term reliability for industrial systems.

AMD has introduced the Ryzen Embedded 9000 Series, a new line of processors designed to bring higher performance, energy efficiency, and long-term reliability to industrial computing. The series targets use cases such as industrial PCs, automation systems, and machine vision applications, offering the power and adaptability needed in demanding environments.

Enhanced performance for industrial use

Built on AMD’s advanced Zen 5 architecture and a 4nm process, the Ryzen Embedded 9000 Series is engineered to meet the rigorous demands of industrial operations. The processors deliver up to 16 high-performance cores and offer configurable power levels from 65W to 170W. This flexibility allows system designers to optimise for energy savings in control systems or deliver high throughput in machine vision setups.

The new processors include AVX-512 instruction set support, helping to accelerate AI inference and video processing tasks. They are paired with DDR5 memory, PCIe Gen 5 connectivity, and up to 128MB of AMD 3D V-Cache for faster data handling and reduced latency. For systems requiring graphics or visualisation, the integrated AMD RDNA 2 architecture enables cost-effective display and vision capabilities without separate GPUs, lowering both complexity and costs.

Designed for longevity and reliability

Industrial technology often needs to run reliably for years, if not decades. AMD has built the Ryzen Embedded 9000 Series to support these long lifecycles. Designed for the AMD AM5 socket, the platform ensures backward and forward compatibility, making upgrades and replacements simpler.

The processors offer up to seven years of guaranteed product availability. AMD also plans to release Ryzen PRO embedded models later this year, extending availability to up to 10 years. These PRO variants include enhanced security and manageability features, such as AMD Platform Secure Boot and full memory encryption with AMD Memory Guard, protecting against evolving cybersecurity risks. Such capabilities are vital for industries like manufacturing, healthcare, and automation, where system stability and data protection are critical.

Future-ready connectivity and scalability

The Ryzen Embedded 9000 Series has been built to adapt to changing technology needs. It supports advanced connectivity options including WiFi 6E, PCIe Gen 5, and high-speed input/output, ensuring that systems can integrate new technologies as they emerge. The wide selection of models within the series allows solution providers to scale performance and features to match specific application requirements without overspending.
