Changi Airport opens Star Wars pop-up library at Terminal 3

Changi Airport’s Star Wars pop-up library offers over 2,000 titles, themed activities, and a robotic lending system until 24 January 2026.

Singapore’s Changi Airport has unveiled a Star Wars-themed pop-up library at Terminal 3, offering fans and travellers a chance to explore one of the world’s most iconic sci-fi universes through books, activities, and technology.

The initiative is part of the National Library Board’s (NLB) 30th anniversary celebrations and is the first Star Wars-themed library in Singapore. Open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM until 24 January 2026, the pop-up is located on Level 2 of Terminal 3, near the Skytrain and link bridge to Jewel. Admission is free.

A literary galaxy for fans of all ages

The library houses over 2,000 Star Wars titles, including comics, manga, junior novels, and adult fiction. Visitors can browse everything from the Darth Vader comic series to the Thrawn: Ascendancy novels. In addition to physical titles, the collection includes digital resources accessible via the NLB Mobile app.

The space has been designed to immerse visitors in the Star Wars universe, with themed zones, digital backdrops, and life-sized standees of characters such as C-3PO and R2-D2. Fans can take part in interactive activities, including a Jedi personality quiz and a Star Wars trivia challenge.

A highlight of the pop-up is a pilot automated system where a robotic arm retrieves books selected from a touchscreen kiosk. The robot also manages book returns, marking one of NLB’s first trials of an automated lending process.

Bringing libraries beyond traditional spaces

The Star Wars pop-up library is part of NLB’s LAB25 initiative, which brings reading and learning experiences to public spaces beyond traditional library buildings. Other “Nodes” have been set up in locations such as MRT stations and shopping malls.

To enter, visitors can scan a library-compliant ID card or an NLB eCard. Non-members may request a QR code day pass by providing a Singapore-registered mobile number or email. Books borrowed from the pop-up can be returned there or at any other NLB branch across Singapore.

Details for visitors

The Star Wars pop-up library is open daily from now until 24 January 2026 at Changi Airport Terminal 3, Level 2, near the Skytrain and the link bridge to Jewel. Borrowing is available through the NLB Mobile app, which can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store.
