Garmin launches premium Connect+ plan to boost health and fitness tracking

Garmin introduces Connect+ with AI insights, advanced training tools, and social features to help users reach their health and fitness goals.

Garmin has introduced a new premium subscription service called Garmin Connect+, designed to provide users with even deeper insights into their health and fitness data through the Garmin Connect app. The service, launched on 28 March in Singapore, builds on the existing features of the free Garmin Connect platform, offering advanced functionality such as AI-driven insights, enhanced live tracking, and exclusive challenges and training guidance.

Garmin Connect+ is aimed at users who want a more personalised and interactive experience with their health and fitness journey. It uses AI to deliver tailored recommendations and insights based on individual data, with the aim of helping users understand their bodies better and train more effectively. This personalised feature, called Active Intelligence, is currently in beta and adapts over time as users engage more with the platform.

“Customers worldwide love using Garmin Connect to track, analyse and share their health and fitness activities. We are excited to provide even more personalised data and enriched features with the addition of Garmin Connect+. You can now learn even more about yourself, take on new challenges, train confidently and stay even more connected,” said Mr Scoppen Lin, Assistant General Manager, Garmin Asia.

Access advanced tools with Garmin Connect+

With the Garmin Connect+ subscription, users can access a new performance dashboard that allows them to view and compare health and fitness data across different time frames. These can be customised using graphs and charts to provide a clearer picture of training progress and overall health.

Live Activity is another standout feature of the new service. It enables users to start an indoor workout on a Garmin smartwatch and then view real-time data such as heart rate, pace, workout videos, and repetitions on their connected smartphone using the Garmin Connect app.

Garmin has also expanded its popular training guidance features. Users who follow Garmin Run Coach or Garmin Cycling Coach plans will receive additional guidance through expert content and videos from Garmin’s coaching team. This is designed to help users train with more structure and confidence, particularly those preparing for races or pushing towards specific goals.

Stay connected and engaged with added social features

Garmin Connect+ enhances its LiveTrack function by offering more ways for users to stay connected with friends and family during workouts. Selected contacts can receive text messages when an activity begins, and users can create personalised LiveTrack profile pages to share with their followers. This is especially useful for those training outdoors or participating in races, adding an extra layer of safety and encouragement.

To make the experience more social, Garmin Connect+ includes new community-driven features like exclusive badge challenges and customisable profile frames within the app. For example, users can take on a “Running Climbs” challenge, which involves recording a total ascent of 500 metres during a month, or a “Power Cycling” challenge that requires four hours of cycling in power zone 3.

Garmin Connect+ is available now with a 30-day free trial. After the trial period, users can subscribe for S$9.90 per month or S$99.90 per year. Despite the launch of Connect+, all existing features in Garmin Connect will remain free to use.

Garmin continues to lead innovation in the wearables space, developing products that support healthier lifestyles for people of all fitness levels. The company remains committed to helping users get more from their data and stay motivated in their health and fitness goals.
