LG unveils new fridge with colour-changing LED panels and built-in speakers

LG launches its MoodUP fridge, featuring colour-changing LED panels and built-in speakers, combining innovative design with advanced cooling technology.

LG Electronics has launched its latest InstaView refrigerator featuring dynamic LED door panels and built-in Bluetooth speakers. The fridge, part of the company’s MoodUP series, aims to transform kitchen spaces with customisable lighting and sound experiences. With 527 litres of capacity, it not only enhances food storage but also creates a unique ambience, making it more than just a home appliance.

The fridge allows users to change the colours of the LED door panels to match their mood or event. The panels offer an impressive 170,000 colour combinations, giving homeowners complete control over their kitchen’s appearance. This innovative feature is further enhanced by built-in speakers, which can sync music via Bluetooth 5.0, turning the fridge into a sound system. During “Party Mode,” the LED lights pulse to the beat of the music, making it the centrepiece of social gatherings.

The fridge integrates seamlessly with LG’s ThinQ app, offering users the ability to control the lights, temperature, and even play music. The app also includes a “Music Collection” feature, providing an additional playlist for users to enjoy.

Award-winning design for modern homes

The LG MoodUP fridge recently won the iF Design Award 2023, a prestigious accolade that recognises outstanding product design. This recognition highlights the fridge’s stylish blend of technology and aesthetics. For those seeking a more traditional look, the LED panels can be switched off to reveal a sleek Lux Gray and Lux White finish, part of LG’s Objet Collection, which brings a sophisticated touch to any kitchen.

Design elements like Metal Fresh silver accents and metallic highlights further elevate the fridge’s appearance. Additional features include extra storage at the bottom and adjustable folding shelves, which make it easy to store taller or bulkier items.

Besides its aesthetic appeal, the fridge is designed with open-concept homes in mind. It offers a cohesive experience by combining lighting, sound, and storage in a single appliance that adapts to the household’s needs. Whether it’s a calming blue for a quiet evening or a bright yellow for a cheerful morning, the fridge can match any occasion.

Advanced cooling technology and smart features

While the LG MoodUP refrigerator stands out with its flashy LED panels and audio capabilities, it also delivers on functionality. Its InstaView technology allows users to see inside the fridge with just two knocks on the door, reducing the need to open it and helping to maintain the internal temperature. This feature is designed to keep food fresher for longer by minimising cold air loss.

The fridge also boasts advanced cooling technologies. Linear Cooling keeps temperature fluctuations within 0.5°C, ensuring food remains fresh for up to seven days, while Door Cooling+ directs cold air to hard-to-reach areas like the front door basket for even cooling throughout the refrigerator. LG’s Hygiene Fresh+ system enhances the appliance’s ability to keep food safe, filtering out 99.999% of bacteria through a five-step air purification process.

In addition to its core cooling functions, the MoodUP fridge includes smart features designed to adapt to the user’s lifestyle. Smart Learner technology monitors usage patterns over three weeks, adjusting energy consumption and cooling performance based on household needs. The Motion-Activated Welcome Light and Night Mood Light are practical additions, illuminating the fridge as users approach or use it at night.

The ThinQ app provides further convenience, allowing users to control the fridge remotely. With a single tap, users can adjust the temperature, change the light colours, or activate the Express Freeze function, which is ideal for freezing large quantities of food quickly.

A lifestyle statement

“The LG MoodUP is more than just a home appliance, it is a statement piece that is personalised to adapt to your mood and living space,” said Mr Han Changho, Product Director (Home Appliances) of LG Electronics Singapore. “By offering both functionality and style, the refrigerator not only enhances the look and feel of the home, it makes daily life more vibrant and convenient for our consumers.”

The LG InstaView fridge with MoodUP LED panels, priced at S$7,599, will be available for preorder on the LG Official Brand Store from 18 September to 10 October 2024 and will hit authorised retailers on 21 October 2024.
