Ricoh and Fujifilm modernise data management with Informatica’s AI-powered cloud solutions

Ricoh and Fujifilm adopt Informatica's AI-powered cloud solutions to streamline data management, enhance decision-making, and improve global operations.

Ricoh Company, Ltd. and FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation have both embraced digital transformation by upgrading their data infrastructure with Informatica’s AI-powered cloud platforms. These initiatives aim to enhance operations, streamline data management, and improve decision-making capabilities, driving greater efficiency in global business activities.

Ricoh’s shift to cloud-native data management

Ricoh has selected Informatica’s Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) to modernise its data infrastructure, a key part of its GLIDER project. This project consolidates raw data from sales, inventory, and operations across more than 50 Ricoh Group companies globally, centralising data processing and analysis at the company’s headquarters. The move aims to reduce the time and effort required to process and analyse data, ultimately improving Return on Invested Capital (ROIC) management.

By transitioning from Informatica’s on-premises PowerCenter system to the cloud-native IDMC platform, Ricoh is reducing migration costs while fully utilising its existing PowerCenter assets. This upgrade follows a successful evaluation at Ricoh’s North America site.

“We have chosen to modernize our current Informatica PowerCenter solution to an AI-powered, cloud-native Informatica’s IDMC because of IDMC’s platform neutrality, multi-cloud support, superior functionality and performance, including the ability to accelerate the conversion of workloads from PowerCenter to IDMC in a matter of minutes while supporting seamless and timeliness of our business operations across the globe,” said Yoshinobu Hamanaka, Deputy General Manager of Process, IT and Data Management at Ricoh.

The new system offers an easy-to-use interface with a low-code/no-code environment, providing scalability and flexibility as Ricoh adapts to a changing business environment. IDMC improves productivity by reducing users’ workloads and allowing for better data management, which in turn enhances customer service by enabling quicker response times and more tailored service offerings.

Fujifilm’s unified data strategy

Meanwhile, FUJIFILM has implemented Informatica’s Master Data Management (MDM) solution to consolidate its fragmented data across nearly 90 core systems developed over decades of business expansion. FUJIFILM, which has grown from a photographic film producer into a diversified business, faced significant challenges due to data fragmentation across its various operations, including healthcare, materials, and imaging.

FUJIFILM adopted a platform-based data management strategy using Informatica’s MDM and Data Quality solutions to address this. This has allowed the company to consolidate data from various sources, such as product codes, sales, and inventory, and manage it centrally across its divisions worldwide. The result is a more unified view of operations, leading to faster, data-driven decision-making.

“Informatica’s Master Data Management solution has enabled us to visualize data generated daily from our global operations through a unified, cross-functional view. This adoption has contributed immensely to our group management’s ability to use trusted data to operate more efficiently and make data-driven decisions to unlock valuable insights,” said Takaharu Furusho, Senior Manager of the ICT Strategy Department at FUJIFILM.

The new system also allows Fujifilm’s internal ICT teams to manage data more effectively, reducing the time and resources needed to make adjustments. With plans to integrate AI into its management systems, FUJIFILM is focused on using trusted data to drive further innovation and business growth.

Informatica’s support for digital transformation

Ricoh and FUJIFILM’s decisions to adopt Informatica’s cloud-based data management platforms underscore their commitment to leveraging modern technology for business transformation. Informatica’s Country Manager and President of Informatica Japan, Taito Kozawa, expressed his pride in supporting both companies’ digital journeys.

“Informatica Japan is pleased to support Ricoh in their data integration project, enabling the customer to drive data transformation at a global scale to achieve operational excellence across their group of companies. We are honored that our industry-leading AI-powered IDMC platform has been chosen to help Ricoh simplify data management and support them in delivering positive outcomes in customer experience and service quality,” said Kozawa.

As both companies continue modernising their data management practices, they are well-positioned to drive further improvements in business operations, decision-making, and global customer service.
