OPPO celebrates SG60 with youth and communities through photography and creativity

OPPO’s SG60 campaign uses photography, youth creativity and community partnerships to celebrate Singapore’s 60th birthday.

OPPO Singapore has launched a nationwide SG60 campaign to mark the country’s 60th birthday, using technology and youth-led creativity to celebrate the nation’s identity and inspire reconnection. The initiative centres on community storytelling, photography, and student-led creative engagement, highlighting the brand’s commitment to empowering local voices.

Honouring everyday Singapore moments

As part of the SG60 campaign, OPPO has integrated its annual LUMO Photography Awards 2025 with a localised theme, “Super Every Singapore Moment.” The campaign invites Singaporeans to capture the spirit of daily life using their smartphones.

A highlight of this initiative is a social video featuring 20 local photography enthusiasts whose images celebrate the diversity, culture, and everyday moments across the country—from HDB estates and kopitiams to national landmarks. The video, which includes a special appearance by local actor Romeo Tan, showcases the storytelling power of smartphone photography. It also reflects the professional-grade imaging quality of OPPO’s camera technology and how it supports visual storytelling in an authentic, accessible way.

The public can still take part in the LUMO Photography Awards until 15 October 2025. Winning entries stand to receive up to US$5,000 and gain global exposure through international exhibitions.

Engaging students through OPPO Creative Studio

Beyond photography, OPPO has teamed up with Nanyang Technological University (NTU) through its veNTUre programme to launch the “OPPO Creative Studio.” Organised with NTU’s Career & Attachment Office, the initiative challenges students to explore the theme “What does SG60 mean to you?” while offering marketing mentorship, industry insights, and potential internship opportunities.

This youth-focused effort taps into a wider cultural insight: that young people in Singapore are increasingly influenced by global content, sometimes at the cost of losing touch with local identity. The campaign aims to reverse that trend by encouraging students to use OPPO’s smartphone technology—specifically the new OPPO Reno14 Pro—to express their views on nationhood and community.

The students have also created an Instagram account, @FromThenToNowSG60, which serves as a digital gallery showcasing their photos. Through this platform, Singaporeans are encouraged to contribute their own snapshots, creating a shared celebration of the country’s past and present.

Connecting people through technology and local stories

Together, the photography campaign and student collaboration reflect OPPO’s ongoing efforts to engage communities through creativity and technology. This approach aligns with the company’s global mission to inspire users to “Make your moment” by turning everyday experiences into meaningful stories through innovation.

“SG60 marks a significant milestone in Singapore’s history and is one of the nation’s most anticipated celebrations. In honour of this occasion, OPPO is proud to collaborate with local photography enthusiasts and emerging young talents to co-create meaningful content that celebrates the spirit of the nation. By encouraging individuals to capture the beauty around them, OPPO reaffirms its commitment to empowering Singaporeans with a platform to express their creativity and commemorate this momentous day,” said Dylan Yu, Marketing Director of OPPO Singapore.

Looking ahead, OPPO intends to continue investing in localised marketing efforts and technological innovation to strengthen its presence in Singapore. The SG60 campaign represents a broader commitment to giving Singaporeans the tools and platform to share their stories—today and into the future.
