Ragnarok Origin Classic opens pre-registration for new monthly pass version across Asia
Ragnarok Origin Classic opens pre-registration for a monthly pass-only version focused on fair progression and classic gameplay.
Ragnarok Origin Classic has officially opened pre-registration for players across Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and Korea, following its debut at Ragnarok Festa 2025. The new release introduces a monthly pass-only version of the MMORPG, positioning itself as a streamlined and fairer alternative to existing progression-heavy models.
Built on Ragnarok Origin Global and published by Gravity Game Vision, the new version is designed to recapture the core appeal of the original Ragnarok experience while reducing long-term power gaps between players. The monthly pass edition removes outfit-based stat advantages and introduces spending limits intended to promote competitive balance.
Progression has been reworked to focus on exploration, strategy, and classic dungeon-based gameplay rather than rapid advancement through unrestricted purchases. Gravity states that the objective is to bring long-time fans back to Midgard by restoring what it describes as the pure adventure of Ragnarok, while making the game more accessible to returning and new players alike.
The company has acknowledged that many veteran players valued the sense of shared journey and discovery more than numerical optimisation or constant power scaling. By simplifying systems and reducing repetitive grind, the new version aims to emphasise player stories, social interaction, and tactical decision-making over raw progression speed.
A redesigned progression model centred on fairness and accessibility
At the core of Ragnarok Origin Classic’s new structure is a progression system based solely on the monthly pass, with weekly purchase caps in place. Even paying players are unable to buy unlimited resources, a move designed to narrow the gap between standard players and higher spenders. This reflects a structural shift away from pay-driven acceleration models commonly seen in mobile MMORPGs.
The progression curve has been fine-tuned to reduce repetitive tasks and streamline the overall experience. Economic systems have been adjusted so that character growth depends more on planning and exploration rather than extended grinding. According to Gravity, players can build progression entirely through dungeon content, enabling returning users to immerse themselves in familiar core gameplay without feeling left behind.
Player-versus-player combat has also been adjusted to support fairer competition. Jobs are unlocked only up to the Trans class tier, creating a balanced environment where success depends on skill, teamwork, and strategy rather than resource accumulation. The company has emphasised job balance and cooperative play as key pillars of the redesign.
Ragnarok Origin Classic will also bring players across Asia onto the same server environment. By removing regional server separation, the game allows friendships and rivalries to develop beyond local communities. This cross-border approach reinforces the franchise’s long-standing regional appeal and aims to strengthen its social ecosystem.
Pre-registration rewards and community-driven feedback
Pre-registration is now live, with exclusive in-game rewards available during the campaign period. Players who complete pre-registration can receive cosmetic items including the Mini Majestic Goat headwear and the Bunny Group mount. Those who form a full team of five players are eligible to unlock the Mini Angel Wings headwear and stand a chance to win an iPhone 17 Pro.
In addition to promotional rewards, Gravity is encouraging active player participation in shaping the game’s future. A dedicated “ROO Roast” event on Facebook invites players to share feedback, suggestions, and criticism ahead of launch. The company has positioned community dialogue as an essential part of refining the monthly pass version.
Gravity has stated that the current adjustments mark the beginning of an ongoing optimisation process, with further refinements expected through future testing phases. The company recognises that revisiting a long-running franchise brings expectations and scrutiny, and has emphasised the importance of honest feedback in ensuring the return resonates with players.
Founded in April 2000, Gravity is a South Korean game company listed on NASDAQ. Its flagship IP, Ragnarok, has surpassed 203 million cumulative global registered accounts as of 31 August 2024 and has ranked among the most popular Korean games worldwide for several consecutive years.
