Qualcomm and Xiaomi renew multi-year partnership to drive premium smartphone innovation

Qualcomm and Xiaomi extend their 15-year partnership to bring Snapdragon-powered innovations across smartphones, vehicles, and smart devices.

Qualcomm Technologies and Xiaomi Corporation have announced a renewed multi-year agreement, extending their longstanding collaboration to deliver cutting-edge innovations across premium smartphones and other connected devices. This renewed commitment builds on a 15-year partnership that has shaped both companies’ positions as global leaders in mobile technology.

The announcement was made during a joint statement from both companies, highlighting their continued alignment on driving forward next-generation device performance, user experience, and global market reach.

Xiaomi to adopt next-generation Snapdragon 8-series

As part of the new agreement, Xiaomi will continue to use Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8-series platforms to power its premium smartphone range. This commitment spans multiple product generations, with increasing volumes projected each year. Xiaomi is also set to be one of the first manufacturers to adopt Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8-series platform, expected to launch later in 2025.

Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, said, “Qualcomm Technologies has always been one of Xiaomi’s most trusted and vital partners, supporting our journey from a startup to a global technology leader. We look forward to continuing the next 15 years of our collaboration and leveraging Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon platforms and technologies to deliver even more innovative and high-quality products to our customers worldwide.”

Cristiano Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm Incorporated, echoed the sentiment: “Together, we have consistently delivered exceptional products that have set the pace of innovation in smartphones globally. We value the relationship we have built resulting from 15 years of close collaboration and are excited to continue this journey for many years to come.”

Expanding beyond smartphones into new categories

The scope of collaboration extends beyond smartphones, with plans to further integrate Qualcomm’s technologies across a wider ecosystem of connected devices. These include automotive platforms, smart home products, AR/VR glasses, wearables, and tablets.

In the automotive space, Xiaomi’s first electric vehicle, the SU7, launched in 2023, features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit Platform, enabling rich multimedia, AI, and intuitive in-cabin experiences. It also leverages the Snapdragon Auto 5G Modem-RF for enhanced processing, connectivity, and precise positioning, ensuring both performance and safety.

In the smart home segment, Xiaomi has integrated Qualcomm’s latest Wi-Fi solutions, including Wi-Fi 7, into its products to offer faster and more reliable connections. These enhancements help Xiaomi maintain a strong lead in delivering high-performance connected home experiences.

The companies’ cooperation in wearables has also yielded notable success. Xiaomi’s Buds 5 Pro series uses the Snapdragon S7 and S7+ Gen 1 Sound Platforms, while the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 Wearable Platform. These devices showcase Qualcomm’s ability to provide efficient, feature-rich platforms for compact form factors.

A shared vision for AI and the connected future

Both companies are also looking ahead to advancements in on-device AI, aiming to enhance performance and intelligence across all edge devices. This includes smartphones, automotive solutions, wearable tech, AR/VR, and other emerging categories. Their shared goal is to build seamless, connected experiences for users worldwide, powered by the strength of Snapdragon technology and Xiaomi’s expansive product reach.

The announcement marks a significant milestone in the tech industry, as Qualcomm and Xiaomi reaffirm their shared commitment to innovation and global expansion in the coming years.
