LG launches world’s first 45-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor in Singapore

LG brings the world’s first 45-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor to Singapore with high refresh rates, Dual-Mode switching and advanced display technology.

LG has introduced what it positions as the world’s first 45-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitor, the UltraGear OLED GX9 (model 45GX950A), with global availability beginning this month. The monitor is now on sale in Singapore through the LG Official Brand Store online and authorised retailers. The company says the launch marks a significant step in its push to deliver higher-resolution OLED gaming displays with improved clarity, speed and flexibility.

The UltraGear OLED GX9 features a 45-inch panel with a 5K2K resolution of 5120×2160 in a 21:9 aspect ratio. LG states that this provides 50 percent more screen area than a 49-inch 32:9 DQHD display, based on pixel count. It also increases pixel density to 125 PPI compared with LG’s previous 45-inch WQHD OLED model, which the company says improves text sharpness and overall readability.

Dual-Mode switching and high-speed performance

A key element of the GX9 is its VESA-certified Dual-Mode, offering eight selectable layouts designed to match different genres and visual requirements. Users can alternate between WUHD 165Hz for detailed, graphics-heavy titles and WFHD 330Hz for fast-action gameplay. Depending on the mode selected, the screen can scale from a 34-inch WFHD view down to a 24-inch FHD view, supporting both 21:9 and 16:9 ratios. Switching can be done using a physical hotkey or a shortcut through the LG Switch app.

LG highlights speed as one of the monitor’s main advantages. The panel delivers a 0.03ms grey-to-grey response time to reduce ghosting and motion blur. It supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, NVIDIA-validated G-SYNC compatibility and VESA AdaptiveSync certification. The combination is designed to produce smooth, tear-free visuals with reduced latency, aimed at players who demand accuracy in fast-moving scenes.

The curvature of the display is set at 800R, which LG notes is intended to match a user’s natural field of view. The company says this creates a more immersive experience, whether the player is exploring bright open worlds or darker indoor settings. The OLED panel also incorporates the company’s brightest WOLED technology with Micro Lens Array+, achieving a standard brightness of 275 nits at full-screen APL and a peak brightness of 1300 nits at 1.5 percent APL. Colour accuracy is rated at Delta E ≦ 2, while VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification supports deeper black levels and improved visibility in darker scenes.

Designed for comfort, connectivity and everyday use

LG has added several features aimed at reducing strain during extended gaming sessions. The screen includes Flicker Free Display, Discomfort Glare Free and Low Blue Light technologies verified by UL. An Anti-Glare and Low Reflection coating is also applied to maintain visibility in brighter rooms. Users can also activate an OLED image cleaning function through the on-screen display to reduce the risk of image retention.

Connectivity options include DisplayPort 2.1, which supports 165Hz gaming at full 5K2K resolution, and USB-C with simultaneous display output, data transfer and 90W charging for laptops over a single cable. The monitor’s design features slim bezels, a four-sided borderless appearance and hexagonal lighting on the rear. The L-shaped stand offers height, tilt and swivel adjustments.

Built-in 10W stereo speakers provide audio without the need for external equipment. For users who prefer headphones, a 4-pole output supports DTS Headphone:X for detailed positional audio, which LG says is particularly helpful for first-person shooter titles requiring accurate spatial awareness.

LG notes that the UltraGear series reflects its broader strategy to enhance the gaming experience with advanced displays and performance-focused features.
