The Mortal Kombat 1 expansion adds new story modes, characters, and fan-favourite features

Dive into Mortal Kombat 1's Khaos Reigns expansion with a new story mode, characters, and the return of Animalities on September 24, 2024.

Netherrealm Studios has exciting news for Mortal Kombat 1 fans with the announcement of the Khaos Reigns expansion. This update will bring a new story mode, the introduction of Kombat Pack 2, and the return of a beloved feature from the past.

A new story mode with a fresh antagonist

The four-minute-long trailer for the Khaos Reigns expansion gives you a glimpse of the all-new story mode. This time, a version of Havik from a different, possibly even more chaotic timeline takes centre stage as the primary antagonist. Your favourite limb-chopping warriors must unite to thwart his sinister plans.

Netherrealm’s signature high-quality graphics and intense violence are on full display, promising a feast of new story content for Mortal Kombat 1 enthusiasts. When Khaos Reigns launches on September 24, 2024, you can look forward to diving into this gripping narrative.

Introducing Kombat Pack 2

The Khaos Reigns expansion will introduce Kombat Pack 2 alongside the new story. This pack will add six new characters to Mortal Kombat 1 as downloadable content. On the day of release, you’ll meet Sektor, Cyrax, and Noob Saibot.

Three additional guest characters will join the roster later: Ghostface from the Scream series, Conan the Barbarian (resembling Arnold Schwarzenegger), and the T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgement Day, portrayed by Robert Patrick.

The Khaos Reigns bundle also includes the first Kombat Pack, featuring characters like Quan-Chi, Ermac, Takeda, Omni-Man, Homelander, and Peacemaker, offering even more variety for your gameplay.

Return of Animalities

A fan-favourite feature, Animalities, is returning as a free update with Khaos Reigns. If you’re unfamiliar with animalities, they are unique Fatality animations where your fighter transforms into a creature to finish off your opponent gruesomely. The trailer teases transformations into a hyena, pufferfish, praying mantis, and more, each providing a predictably brutal end to your battles.

Khaos Reigns promises to be a thrilling expansion for Mortal Kombat 1 fans. It combines new characters, an engaging story, and the nostalgic return of Animalities. Mark your September 24, 2024, calendars, and prepare for the chaos.
