Ford offers an extended deadline for free at-home EV charging promotion

Ford is extending its free at-home EV charging promotion for new electric vehicle buyers through March 31, 2025.

Ford gives you more time to enjoy its popular free at-home EV charging offer. Initially set to end on January 2, the automaker has extended its “Power Promise” initiative through March 31, 2025. This move gives buyers of new 2024 and 2025 Ford electric vehicles, including the Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, and E-Transit, an extended opportunity to take advantage of this deal.

What’s included in Ford’s Power Promise?

The promotion comes packed with perks. When you purchase an eligible Ford EV, you’ll receive a complimentary home charger with “standard” installation included. This means most buyers won’t face extra costs unless the installation requires special adjustments.

Ford also offers 24/7 customer support to answer any charging-related questions and complimentary roadside assistance. These extras aim to make your transition to electric driving as smooth as possible.

According to Stacey Ferreira, Ford’s Model E retail director, the program has been well-received. She noted that around 85% of installations fall under the standard category, requiring no additional expenses. Ford’s efficient process also boasts an average 11-day turnaround from receiving a quote to completing the installation, helping customers get started quickly.

Strong EV sales driving the extension

This promotion comes during a record-breaking time for Ford’s EV sales. In 2024, Ford sold 97,865 electric vehicles, marking a significant rise but still trailing behind GM, which sold 114,400 units in the same period.

The Mustang Mach-E had a stellar year, with sales increasing by 27% to 51,745 units. It also achieved a record fourth quarter, selling 16,119 units, making it the second-best-selling electric SUV in the US after Tesla’s Model Y.

The F-150 Lightning wasn’t far behind, with sales jumping 39% to 33,510 units. Meanwhile, the E-Transit saw an impressive 64% increase, reaching 12,610 units sold.

Susannah Evans, a Ford spokesperson, highlighted the success of these models as part of what the company called its “best-ever” quarter for EV sales. The extension of the Power Promise aligns with Ford’s strategy to maintain this momentum and attract more buyers to its electric vehicle lineup.

A step towards EV adoption

By extending the Power Promise, Ford is offering an incentive and addressing a common barrier to EV ownership: charging infrastructure. With a free home charger and hassle-free installation, the company aims to make switching to electric vehicles more appealing and straightforward.

This move signals Ford’s commitment to making EV ownership easier for its customers while boosting sales in a competitive market. If you’re considering a Ford EV, this extended promotion provides an excellent opportunity to leap.
