Samsung signals major step forward with new Exynos teaser

Samsung teases its Exynos 2600 chip, expected to debut as the first 2nm mobile processor and power the upcoming Galaxy S26 series.

Samsung has released an official teaser for its upcoming Exynos chipset, signalling that the company is preparing to introduce a major update to its in-house mobile processor line. The short video, published under the title “The Next Exynos”, offers only brief visual clues but strongly suggests that the next flagship chip, expected to be called the Exynos 2600, will represent a significant advance in performance and energy efficiency. Although Samsung has not shared technical specifications, the announcement indicates that the company is ready to regain momentum in a market where mobile chip competition has intensified.

The teaser positions the Exynos 2600 as a refined and highly optimised generation, describing it as “refined at the core” and “optimised at every level to express the exceptional”. These phrases echo Samsung’s broader strategy of promoting the Exynos line as a premium solution capable of competing with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon range and Apple’s custom silicon. While the company has alternated between Exynos and Snapdragon chips across its premium smartphones in recent years, the promotional tone suggests a renewed confidence in its proprietary technology.

First 2nm chip anticipated for next generation

Industry observers expect the Exynos 2600 to mark a milestone in manufacturing technology. If current predictions are correct, Samsung’s new processor could become the first commercially available 2nm mobile chip. This move, if confirmed, would place Samsung ahead of its competitors in adopting the next-generation ultrafine process node, which is widely regarded as a key factor in improving battery life, heat management, and overall computing power.

The shift to a 2nm process would provide Samsung with an opportunity to demonstrate leadership in semiconductor manufacturing. As fabrication nodes shrink, chips typically deliver stronger performance while consuming less power. These improvements allow smartphone makers to integrate more demanding features without compromising battery efficiency. For Samsung, this development may also help strengthen the company’s position in the premium smartphone market, where chip performance is closely linked to user experience and brand perception.

Although Samsung has not stated when the new chip will be unveiled, the timing of the teaser suggests the launch window is approaching. The company typically aligns its flagship chipset announcements with the development cycle of its Galaxy S-series smartphones, which are traditionally introduced early each year. Expected role in the Galaxy S26 series

The Exynos 2600 is widely expected to feature in Samsung’s next flagship smartphone family, the Galaxy S26 series. Rumours indicate that Samsung will continue its split-chip strategy, with certain models powered by Exynos and others by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon processor. This approach has been used in several recent Galaxy S generations, largely due to regional considerations and supply arrangements.

Current industry reports suggest that the Galaxy S26 Pro may be equipped with the Exynos 2600, while the Ultra and Edge variants could use a custom Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 5 chipset. This arrangement would mirror Samsung’s earlier decisions to balance its internal chip production with Qualcomm’s offerings for higher-end variants. As anticipation grows, Samsung’s teaser serves its purpose by drawing attention back to the Exynos brand. While the company has not disclosed specific benchmarks or architectural details, the promotional language points to a significant generational upgrade.
