8×8 introduces no-code SMS fraud protection to tackle global threat

[output_post_excerpt]

8×8, Inc. has launched 8×8 Omni Shield Self-Service, a no-code SMS fraud protection solution designed to help businesses detect and block fraudulent activity in real time. The tool aims to reduce losses from SMS-based attacks, which cost companies an estimated US$2.1 billion in 2023 .

Real-time protection against SMS attacks

Integrated into the 8×8 Connect platform, Omni Shield allows business teams to monitor and stop threats such as Artificially Inflated Traffic (AIT), smishing, and spoofing without needing technical expertise. Users can access an intuitive dashboard to analyse live SMS trends, identify suspicious patterns, and instantly suspend fraudulent traffic.

“From e-commerce to banking, SMS is the backbone of digital engagement – and that makes it a growing target,” said Igor Mostovoy, Product Director, CPaaS at 8×8, Inc. “With 8×8 Omni Shield, our customers gain the visibility and control to stop fraud before it impacts their business or their brand. What used to take days now takes minutes – and that speed makes all the difference” .

Designed for speed and ease of use

Unlike traditional defences that rely on technical teams or delayed reporting, 8×8 Omni Shield provides proactive tools accessible to anyone involved in customer communication or operations. Features include behavioural traffic analysis for live fraud detection, one-click blocking of high-risk routes, and automatic suspension of suspicious activity without manual intervention. Real-time dashboards show anomalies, conversion rates, and message health to help companies act quickly.

This self-service approach means teams no longer need to raise support tickets or wait for monthly reports. The system empowers departments beyond IT, such as product and operations, to take direct control of fraud prevention.

Global impact with local relevance

The new solution is particularly valuable in mobile-first regions like Southeast Asia, where SMS is widely used for banking one-time passwords, delivery updates, and customer notifications. Early adopters have reported measurable reductions in costs linked to AIT and greater confidence in SMS campaign performance. 8×8 Omni Shield Self-Service is now available to all 8×8 SMS customers through the 8×8 Connect platform.
