Garmin expands golf range with Approach G20 Solar and Approach CT1 tracking tags

Garmin Singapore launches Approach G20 Solar GPS golf handheld and Approach CT1 tracking tags to help golfers improve performance.

Garmin Singapore has introduced two new products to its growing golf range – the Approach G20 Solar, the brand’s first solar-powered GPS golf handheld, and the Approach CT1 club tracking tags.

The Approach G20 Solar stands out with its solar-powered battery, giving you almost unlimited playtime in sunny conditions. Along with the new club tracking tags, these devices aim to make it easier for you to track performance and improve your game.

Approach G20 Solar: reliable GPS and solar power combined

With the Approach G20 Solar, you can check distances to the green and plan each shot using its 2.2-inch high-contrast display. The screen works well even under direct sunlight, and the numbers are large enough for you to see clearly without squinting, regardless of age or eyesight.

Scoppen Lin, Assistant General Manager at Garmin Asia, shared, “We’re excited to introduce the Approach G20 Solar, our first GPS golf handheld with an innovative solar-powered display that gives golfers the ability to play longer than ever before. Packed with popular on-course features to help guide your approach and an easy-to-read screen, it’s the perfect companion for golfers of all skill levels.”

With solar charging, you can play round after round without worrying about running out of power. If you are golfing in ideal sunlight, the device can last indefinitely. Even in cloudy weather, you can still expect up to 36 rounds of use on a single charge.

The Approach G20 Solar also comes with over 43,000 preloaded golf courses from around the world. When paired with a compatible smartphone, you can update courses wirelessly. You can also view yardages to the front, middle, and back of the green, as well as hazards and doglegs, all on its sunlight-readable screen.

To make things even easier, you can adjust the text size on the display to make distances larger and easier to read. You can also use the Green View feature to manually place pins and get a better view of the green’s shape.

If you like keeping track of your game, you can pair the Approach G20 Solar with the new Approach CT1 club tracking tags. These tags automatically record shots, helping you review your performance more accurately.

For added convenience, the device comes with a built-in magnet so you can attach it to your golf cart, or you can clip it to your belt. If you accidentally leave it behind, the Find My Garmin feature in the Garmin Golf app will show its last known location. Designed to handle all weather conditions, it also comes with an IPX7 water rating, meaning it can withstand rain, wind, and sun.

Track your game with Approach CT1 tags

To complement the new handheld, Garmin has also launched the Approach CT1 club tracking tags. These lightweight tags attach to the ends of your club grips and record data from every shot you take – from drivers to putters.

The tags work seamlessly with the Approach S50 smartwatch, a recent addition to Garmin’s golf lineup. Before each shot, simply tap the tag to the watch to log the shot, club type, and location.

With this data, you can see how far you typically hit with each club and check how accurate your shots are to the fairway or green. After your game, you can open the Garmin Golf app to review your performance. The app also provides strokes gained analysis, which compares your stats against others to show where you excel and where you need improvement.

Price and availability

Both new products will be available from 14 March at Garmin Brand Stores, Lazada, Shopee, Garmin Online Store, Takashimaya, and selected authorised retailers.

The Approach G20 Solar has a suggested retail price of S$459, while the Approach CT1 club tracking tags will retail at S$149 for a set of 16 tags.
