Glancing becomes a digital trend in Indonesia’s smartphone market

Glance Smart Lock Screen is transforming how over 30 million Indonesians engage with their smartphones, boasting 117 billion glances and 2 billion taps in just nine months.

Glance, the world’s leading smart lock screen platform, revealed its Glance Smart Lock Screen Trends Report Indonesia 2024. This report, developed with Mindshare, showcases how “glancing” has become a notable digital habit in Indonesia, the world’s fourth-largest smartphone market. Covering data from January to September 2024, the findings highlight that over 30 million Indonesian users rely on Glance for personalised content and experiences. Collectively, users recorded over 117 billion glances and 2 billion taps during this period.

Glance has become an integral part of everyday life in Indonesia, offering instant access to news, entertainment, and cultural content without needing to unlock the phone. The platform not only connects users to their interests but also provides brands with opportunities to engage with audiences in unique and meaningful ways.

Connecting culture and daily life

Indonesians use Glance to engage with content that reflects their cultural values and traditions. During key events like Independence Day, Glance recorded 1.1 billion glances, where users celebrated national milestones. Similarly, Ramadan saw a surge of 1.9 billion glances as people accessed recipes, wellness tips, and faith-based content. During the Pilkada regional elections, users interacted with Glance 660 million times, staying informed about democratic events.

Beyond cultural content, Indonesians use Glance for health, beauty, and lifestyle improvements. Topics on health and wellness garnered 3.9 billion glances, while beauty-related content reached 3.6 billion glances. These figures reflect a growing focus on personal well-being and effortless access to curated content that supports healthier lifestyles.

A hub for real-time updates and entertainment

The platform has also become a leading source of real-time news and entertainment. News content led with 7.2 billion glances and 152 million taps, offering users instant updates on trending stories. Gaming, another significant feature, saw 277 million free-to-play games completed on Glance. Additionally, users spent over 240 million hours watching curated videos on various topics, reinforcing Glance’s position as a one-stop hub for information and inspiration.

Glance’s innovative approach has captivated users by enabling effortless exploration. Nearly 50% of user interactions are spontaneous, making the platform an ideal space for brands to foster engagement. Advertisers benefit from strong Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) by leveraging seamless one-tap connections that lead to app downloads and enhanced user experiences.
