Krungsri adopts Informatica’s AI-powered data governance to drive digital transformation

Krungsri partners with Informatica to boost data governance, strengthen compliance, and drive innovation in its push to become an AI-driven bank.

Thailand’s Bank of Ayudhya, better known as Krungsri, has partnered with Informatica to strengthen its data governance and accelerate its digital transformation as it aims to become a leading AI-driven digital bank.

Building a unified data foundation

Krungsri, one of Thailand’s largest financial institutions by assets, loans and deposits, manages a customer base of over 19 million across Thailand and the wider ASEAN region. As part of its growth strategy, the bank identified the need for a unified approach to managing data, which has historically been fragmented across its business units. Ensuring data quality, security, privacy and compliance with regulatory requirements has become a key focus as it scales digital services.

The bank has adopted Informatica’s Cloud Data Governance and Catalog (CDGC) and Cloud Data Quality (CDQ) solutions, which run on the company’s AI-powered Intelligent Data Management Cloud platform. These tools are designed to support Krungsri’s transition to a hybrid cloud environment with Amazon Web Services (AWS). By addressing challenges such as data discovery, metadata management and quality improvement, the bank aims to improve data integrity and build trust across its operations.

Enhancing compliance and customer experience

Tul Roteseree, Head of Enterprise Data and Analytics Group at Krungsri, said the bank sees data as a crucial driver of transformation. “Recognising the pivotal role of data in the banking sector, Krungsri strategically adopts these advanced data governance solutions to enhance data quality, accessibility and integrity. With a scalable and robust governance framework underpinning our cloud-enabled, secure technology infrastructure, we are not only helping to ensure regulatory compliance and boosting operational efficiency but also driving customer-centric innovation and superior customer service to reinforce our leadership in the financial industry,” he explained.

By implementing a stronger governance framework, Krungsri expects to improve operational efficiency and streamline compliance processes, while also enabling greater agility in deploying digital solutions. The move supports its ambition to offer more personalised and seamless customer experiences across its markets.

Informatica’s role in digital banking

Informatica, listed on the New York Stock Exchange under INFA, positions itself as a leader in enterprise cloud data management, with a focus on AI-powered solutions for large-scale organisations. The company views the partnership as an example of how financial institutions can navigate complex data environments while enabling innovation.

“Krungsri’s transformation journey demonstrates how strategic data governance, enabled through our partnership, can help large financial institutions to navigate complex data landscapes, accelerate innovation and realise meaningful operational value. With Informatica as a trusted partner, Krungsri is leading the way in making banking in Thailand truly data-driven and AI-enabled,” said Steven Seah, Vice President for Informatica ASEAN, India and Korea.

The collaboration highlights the growing importance of cloud-based data management in the banking sector, where regulatory demands and customer expectations are pushing financial institutions to adopt more advanced digital strategies. For Krungsri, the investment in Informatica’s AI-powered platform marks a significant step towards reshaping its operations and enhancing competitiveness in the region’s financial services landscape.
