UiPath and Deloitte drive ERP modernisation with agentic automation

UiPath partners with Deloitte to modernise its ERP using agentic automation, achieving a 93% clean core and faster, more scalable operations.

UiPath has partnered with Deloitte to overhaul its enterprise resource planning (ERP) system using agentic automation, achieving industry-leading results and setting a new benchmark for SAP S/4HANA migration. The initiative, named “Customer Zero,” highlights UiPath’s internal transformation and its ambition to modernise operations while reducing complexity and boosting scalability.

The move comes amid rapid growth and increasing global demands. UiPath recognised that its existing systems—marked by fragmentation, slow billing cycles, delayed revenue recognition, and complex multi-GAAP reporting—were limiting its operational speed and adaptability. In response, the company chose to take an automation-first approach to ERP modernisation, using its own automation platform in partnership with Deloitte’s SAP business transformation expertise.

Automation at the heart of transformation

Unlike traditional ERP upgrades, UiPath embedded its agentic automation tools into every stage of the SAP S/4HANA migration. This included robotic process automation (RPA), intelligent document processing (IDP), UiPath Apps, and AI-powered orchestration. Together, these technologies streamlined data migration, improved system integration, and removed manual bottlenecks across core finance operations.

The UiPath Centre of Excellence delivered over 200 automations as part of the programme. More than 85% of critical finance workflows, including billing, revenue recognition, and account reconciliation, are now run by unattended automations. As a result, UiPath achieved a 93% clean core on its SAP system—well above the industry standard of 80%—allowing for easier upgrades and reduced technical debt. In addition, 60% of test cases were automated, significantly easing user workload and speeding up deployment, while overall project delivery time improved by 10%.

“Agentic capabilities are essential to deliver automation-driven ERP outcomes,” said Jerry Hoberman, U.S. SAP Offering Leader at Deloitte. “Building on Deloitte and UiPath’s commitment to deliver Intelligent Automation solutions for our joint clients, together, we can help organisations unlock transformative business value as they move to SAP S/4HANA and RISE.”

Preparing for agentic ERP and AI-powered decision-making

With the core transformation complete, UiPath is now looking ahead to a new model of ERP: one that leverages AI agents to manage processes and drive decision-making across both SAP and non-SAP environments. The next phase, enabled by UiPath’s Maestro orchestration technology, will see automation evolve from an operational tool to an active co-pilot in enterprise decisions.

This concept of agentic ERP involves handing routine decisions and exception handling over to AI, coordinating efforts across humans, bots, and systems, and maintaining the flexibility to innovate continuously.

“Agentic ERP is not just a vision—it’s the logical next step in the evolution of enterprise systems,” said Mihai Faur, CIO of UiPath. “Our Customer Zero journey demonstrates how organisations can future-proof their operations by embedding intelligent, agentic automation into every fabric of their ERP landscape.”

A blueprint for modern ERP

The collaboration between UiPath and Deloitte offers a model for businesses seeking to modernise ERP systems beyond conventional approaches. By putting automation at the centre of its SAP migration, UiPath reduced disruption and delivered measurable outcomes in speed, scalability, and operational resilience.

“Our work with Deloitte demonstrates that automation isn’t just an enabler—it’s a catalyst for enterprise reinvention,” said Hitesh Ramani, Chief Accounting Officer and Deputy CFO of UiPath. “With SAP S/4HANA and our agentic automation platform working hand-in-hand, we’ve dramatically improved the efficiency, scalability, and resilience of our finance operations.”
