Acer introduces portable monitors with rare touchscreen features and dual-use potential

Acer’s new portable monitors offer touchscreen features, foldable designs, and Full HD quality—excellent for work, travel, and collaboration.

Acer has recently released a new line of portable monitors that could change how you work and collaborate on the go. With models like the PD163QT and PD243Y E, you’re not just getting a basic external screen—you’re getting thoughtful features like Full HD resolution, touchscreen capabilities, and flexible designs that make multitasking and sharing your screen much easier.

These displays stand out in portable monitors. They are usually simple and built just for convenience. Acer’s new models, however, add extra features that give you more ways to use them, whether you’re in a meeting, travelling, or want a second screen for your laptop.

Touchscreen support and foldable design

The PD163QT grabs your attention straight away with its touchscreen feature—a rare find among portable monitors. It makes working with your hands feel natural, whether you’re drawing, sketching, or just scrolling through files. If you prefer interacting directly with your screen, this could be a game changer.

The PD163QT and PD243Y E are Full HD (1920×1080) displays, offering clear picture quality with wide viewing angles. Moreover, they can be folded up to 315°, a smart design choice that helps in group settings or when giving a presentation. You can easily prop them up at various angles, and the foldable design gives you more freedom than typical flat displays.

However, it’s worth noting that the “dual-screen” label might be confusing. These monitors don’t each have two screens—instead, Acer is promoting the idea of using the PD163QT and PD243Y E together to create a dual-screen setup. Each model still has just one display panel.

Smooth visuals and eye comfort features

The PD243Y E has a 100Hz refresh rate and flicker-free technology, which may help reduce eye strain during long sessions. While this higher refresh rate might not make a big difference if you’re typing documents or checking emails, it does offer a smoother experience when scrolling or switching between apps.

Acer has also included its VisionCare technology across the lineup. This feature protects your eyes during extended use, making these monitors more suitable for long workdays or study sessions.

If you’re a Mac user, though, be aware that these monitors aren’t specially made for macOS. They’ll still work as general-purpose displays, but they might not match your MacBook Pro’s screen quality, especially regarding colour accuracy or aspect ratio. So, if you care about perfect visuals and smooth macOS integration, these may not be your first choice.

Portable options and high-end models for creatives

If you’re looking for something even more compact, Acer has also launched the PM191Q E. It’s a slimmer option with an adjustable kickstand, Full HD resolution, and a 100Hz refresh rate. Like the others, it’s portable and even VESA-mountable if you want to fix it to a wall or desk.

Still, all of these models have a 1080p resolution. While that’s fine for everyday use, it’s something to consider if you need ultra-sharp visuals or are used to working on a 4K screen.

On the premium end, Acer’s new ProCreator Series targets creative professionals. These monitors come in 4K and even 6K options and are packed with high-end features like touch input, colour accuracy rated at Delta E<1, and wide colour support. Some models, including the PE320QXT and PE270XT, also offer tools like split-screen modes and built-in webcams—perfect if you’re doing design work, video editing, or want a top-quality business display.

Prices across the entire lineup range from US$180 to US$1,999, depending on the model and region. Whether you’re looking for a light travel companion or a powerhouse monitor for creative work, Acer’s new releases have something for nearly everyone.
