Adobe Firefly expands to iOS and Android, boosting mobile creativity

Adobe’s Firefly app is now available on iOS and Android. It brings AI-powered image and video tools to your phone and supports third-party models.

Adobe is making it easier for you to explore creative AI tools on the go. On June 17, the company launched a mobile version of its Firefly app for both iOS and Android. Now, you can access powerful image and video generation tools directly from your phone—whether using Adobe’s AI models or those from OpenAI, Google, and others.

Access powerful AI tools from your phone

Earlier this April, Adobe introduced a redesigned Firefly web app to let you generate creative content with AI. That same functionality is now available in your pocket. The Firefly mobile app brings advanced features like image and video generation to your smartphone. You can write prompts to create pictures or short videos, edit parts of a photo using generative fill, or expand images using generative expand. If you’re already an Adobe Creative Cloud user, you can start your project on the app and finish it later on your desktop or via the web.

What makes this new mobile version stand out is its ability to work with several top AI models. Besides Adobe’s Firefly models, you can now create with OpenAI’s GPT-powered image generation tools, Google’s Imagen 3 and Veo 2 models, and Flux 1.1 Pro.

Third-party model support grows

Adobe isn’t stopping with just a few AI tools. The app now supports more third-party models than ever. You’ll be able to experiment with:

  • Flux.1 Kontext by Black Forest Labs
  • Ideogram 3.0 by Ideogram
  • Gen-4 Image by Runway

This opens up a wider creative range for users, giving you more options and styles to explore when generating visuals or video content.

Adobe Canvas gets a major update

In addition to the Firefly app release, Adobe has upgraded its Canvas tool. Canvas is a digital whiteboard that lets you collaborate with others on visual projects. The latest update supports video generation, allowing you to create clips from its competitors using Adobe’s AI video tools and models. Whether brainstorming alone or with a team, the improved Canvas tool helps you move from concept to content much faster.

So far, Adobe’s Firefly tools have powered the creation of more than 24 billion media assets, showing just how widely adopted the platform has become. Adobe also reports that its AI-powered features have helped drive a 30% quarter-over-quarter growth in new Creative Cloud subscribers.

With this mobile expansion, Adobe is strongly pursuing its goal of becoming the go-to platform for AI creativity wherever you are.
