Alteryx reveals new AI data strategy under refreshed leadership

Alteryx sets out new AI data strategy, positioning Alteryx One as a trusted platform for governed, enterprise-grade AI-ready data.

Alteryx has introduced a new vision for its analytics platform, focusing on solving one of the major challenges holding back enterprise AI adoption: poor data quality and governance. Under the direction of new CEO Andy MacMillan, the company is positioning itself as the go-to AI Data Clearinghouse, aiming to provide businesses with the tools to clean, govern, and prepare data for AI applications.

The company, which has nearly three decades of experience in data preparation and analytics, is enhancing its enterprise platform—Alteryx One—to ensure organisations can trust the data powering their AI workflows. According to Gartner, data quality concerns are a key reason why organisations delay AI projects, and it’s estimated that by 2026, 60% of AI initiatives will be abandoned if they lack AI-ready data.

Empowering enterprises with governed, AI-ready data

The upgraded Alteryx One platform is built around the concept of a governed data environment, offering businesses a centralised solution to manage data integrity. The platform ensures that any data fed into AI models is not only clean and enriched but also auditable and compliant with legal and privacy standards.

“Enterprises are facing a perfect storm of siloed data sources and increasing pressure to capitalise on the demand for AI,” said Andy MacMillan, Chief Executive Officer at Alteryx. “That data is the fuel that will power AI tools. Yet, that can’t happen without clean and accurate data. That is why Alteryx is doubling down on transforming Alteryx One into the AI Data Clearinghouse for enterprises.”

This approach includes built-in governance processes, such as anonymising personal data, enforcing GDPR compliance, and flagging proprietary content, all of which require approval from legal and compliance teams. Business users remain in control of preparing the data while ensuring that what enters AI systems is compliant and reliable.

Governance seen as key to AI success

Alteryx’s renewed focus comes at a time when governance is seen as a top concern for enterprises exploring AI integration. David Menninger, Executive Director of Technology Research at ISG Software Research, said, “Our research shows that governance is one of the biggest challenges enterprises face when trying to deploy AI applications. Rated an exemplary vendor in our Data Integration Buyers Guide, this new direction builds on Alteryx’s years of experience helping organisations clean and prepare trusted data for AI and analyses.”

The AI Data Clearinghouse is designed to support a wide range of business functions, from HR and finance to marketing and supply chain. Alteryx One helps users connect structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data across multiple sources, cleanse and transform it using a low-code interface, and apply enterprise-grade security and governance standards. It also enables the integration of large language models and AI agents, giving users the power to build transparent and scalable AI workflows.

Leadership team poised for expansion

To drive this transformation, Alteryx has expanded its leadership team with several key appointments. Andy MacMillan, who took on the CEO role in December 2024, brings a strong background in enterprise software, having held roles at UserTesting, Act-On Software, Salesforce, Oracle, and Stellent. He is joined by Nali Giliana as Chief Strategy Officer, Jon Pexton as Chief Financial Officer, Steven Birdsall as Chief Revenue Officer, and Ben Canning as Chief Product Officer.

With these new leaders in place, Alteryx is committed to helping organisations prepare their data for the AI era. The company aims to simplify the process of turning raw enterprise data into high-quality, trustworthy inputs that AI systems can rely on.
