The collaboration brings together CompTIA’s global certification expertise and SGInnovate’s role as a government-backed ecosystem builder to address persistent gaps between training, employability, and industry demand. Anchored by a Memorandum of Understanding, the agreement commits both organisations to jointly upskill the local deep tech talent community.
Under the partnership, CompTIA will provide access to its portfolio of globally recognised, vendor-neutral certifications and learning solutions. SGInnovate will leverage its ecosystem to connect individuals with upskilling initiatives and career opportunities across high-growth startups and local enterprises. The shared objective is to help local talent adapt to rapid technological change while strengthening overall workforce competitiveness.
National focus on future-ready deep tech skills
Through the agreement, CompTIA and SGInnovate aim to equip Singapore’s deep tech community with practical, industry-relevant capabilities in AI, cybersecurity and other emerging technologies.
Juliana Lim, Executive Director, People at SGInnovate, said that as AI-powered cyber-attacks increase and both AI and cybersecurity become more critical to Singapore’s innovation economy, developing talent in these areas has become a national priority. She noted that the collaboration enables individuals to upskill through a blend of preparatory workshops and formal certifications, while bridging the gap between training and employment. The goal is to ensure Singapore’s workforce remains future-ready and directly connected to meaningful opportunities across the deep tech ecosystem.
The partnership reflects a broader shift in workforce strategy, where skills development must keep pace with both technological complexity and industry demand. By aligning certifications more closely with real-world job requirements and linking them to hiring pathways, the two organisations are seeking to reduce the mismatch between learning outcomes and employer expectations.
CyberReady+ bootcamp addresses immediate talent demand
To meet the immediate need for cybersecurity professionals, the partners have introduced the CyberReady+ Bootcamp. The programme is designed as a progressive, three-stage pathway for mid-career professionals, fresh graduates and individuals looking to pivot into cybersecurity roles.
The foundation stage covers essential networking concepts, security controls and network defence principles. The intermediate stage focuses on analyst workflows, including threat intelligence, vulnerability triage and core Security Information and Event Management fundamentals. The advanced stage explores the intersection of AI and cybersecurity, with emphasis on threat hunting, safe automation through Security Orchestration, Automation and Response, and securing AI-integrated systems.
Structured as three consecutive workshops, the bootcamp is intended for participants with non-technical to basic cybersecurity knowledge. It is designed to build both interest and practical capabilities ahead of formal certifications, with the aim of ensuring participants are industry-ready upon completion rather than solely credentialed.
SecAI+ certification and a unified path to employment
Alongside the bootcamp, CompTIA is launching SecAI+, described as its first global certification dedicated to securing, governing and responsibly integrating AI into cybersecurity operations. The certification track is designed to help professionals defend AI systems against emerging threats, meet compliance standards and safely deploy automation within security environments.
The launch responds to insights from SGInnovate’s Deep Tech Central platform, which recorded a 44% increase in AI and cybersecurity job openings from 2024 to 2025. During the same period, applications for these roles rose by 65%. However, only one in five applicants met the required skills criteria, underscoring a significant gap between market demand and job-ready talent.
To address this mismatch, applications for the SecAI+ certification will be hosted on SGInnovate’s Learn@Deep Tech Central platform. This approach centralises the learning journey while ensuring individuals remain connected to job openings, internships, industry events and continuous upskilling pathways within the deep tech ecosystem.
Peter Schalkwijk, Vice President, APAC at CompTIA, said that classroom learning, on-the-job training and professional certifications form the foundation of a highly skilled technology workforce. He added that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to helping individuals acquire the technology skills needed to drive innovation and growth across Singapore.
By integrating training initiatives directly within the Deep Tech Central platform, both organisations aim to streamline the transition from learning to employment. The platform serves as a connector for individuals at various career stages seeking opportunities in emerging technology sectors, as well as for startups and enterprises in search of specialised talent.
