Google rolls out Gemini Live screensharing to Pixel 9 and Galaxy S25 users

Gemini Live's screen sharing and camera tools are now available on Pixel 9 and Galaxy S25 devices for Gemini Advanced users.

If you use a Pixel 9 or Galaxy S25 phone, you’ll see some exciting new features with the latest update from Google. The Gemini Live camera and screensharing tools are now being rolled out to these devices. These updates let you ask Gemini Live—Google’s advanced AI chatbot—questions about whatever you see in real-time.

Whether looking at a fish tank, browsing a shopping website, or pointing your camera at an object, Gemini Live is designed to respond immediately with helpful answers. To use these features, you’ll need a Gemini Advanced subscription. Google has confirmed that the update is free, but access to Gemini Live’s live video and screenshare tools is only for paying users.

Let’s take a closer look at what this update means for you.

How Gemini Live works on your phone

Once the feature is available on your device, you’ll see a new button that starts a live video session. You point your camera at something—like a fish in an aquarium—and ask Gemini Live questions about it. The AI responds instantly, giving you helpful information based on what it sees.

There’s also a new screensharing button. This lets you show Gemini Live whatever is on your screen, such as a clothing shop or product page. You can then ask the chatbot to compare items, recommend products, or give styling tips.

These features were first introduced during Google’s I/O developer conference in May under “Project Astra.” Since then, Google has been slowly rolling them out to users.

Who can access these features

The new Gemini Live tools are rolling out to Pixel 9 series and Galaxy S25 devices. But that’s not all. Google says the update will also be coming soon for other Android phones. While the update is free, you must be a paid Gemini Advanced subscriber to use the live video and screenshare options.

Last month, Google spokesperson Alex Joseph confirmed the rollout was underway. Some Reddit users also noticed the feature appearing on their devices, including on a Xiaomi phone. This shows that Google is gradually expanding access beyond Pixel and Galaxy phones.

You must be 18 or older to use Gemini Live, and it’s not available for education or enterprise accounts. The feature currently supports 45 languages and is available in select countries.

What this means for Android users

With Gemini Live, your phone becomes a lot smarter. Instead of just searching for answers, you can now interact with what’s right in front of you. Whether shopping online, exploring nature, or just feeling curious about something around you, the AI assistant is ready to help.

If you already have a Pixel 9 or Galaxy S25, watch for the update—it should arrive soon. And if you use a different Android device, you won’t have to wait too long. Google has promised that the feature will be available to more phones shortly.

To get the most out of Gemini Live, consider subscribing to Gemini Advanced. It’s the only way to unlock these real-time tools that make your phone more interactive.
