The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and CapitaLand Investment (CLI) jointly hosted the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Day 2025 Combined Rededication Ceremony (CRC) on 1 July at Capital Tower. The event brought together representatives from around 80 organisations, with about 220 key stakeholders attending to reaffirm their support for Singapore’s national defence and recognise the contributions of National Servicemen (NSmen).
The ceremony was officiated by Minister for Defence Chan Chun Sing, marking his first CRC appearance in this role. It also commemorated 60 years of the SAF’s commitment to protecting Singapore’s sovereignty and security. The occasion underscored the close partnership between the business community and the nation’s defence, reflecting a shared commitment to safeguarding economic and national stability.
Reinforcing the link between businesses and national security
This is the first time the CRC has been co-organised by SBF and CLI. The collaboration highlighted the vital role that businesses play in Singapore’s defence ecosystem—not only by employing NSmen but also by providing critical services that maintain national operational readiness. The event served as a platform for business leaders to reaffirm their continued support for National Service and recognise the role of NSmen in preserving Singapore’s peace and prosperity.
An exhibition was also held alongside the ceremony, showcasing advancements in defence technology and capabilities, further reinforcing the strategic relationship between public and private sectors.
Dialogue on economic and defence resilience
A fireside chat was held during the event, featuring Minister Chan and Ervin Yeo, CLI’s Group Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Executive Officer, Commercial Management. The session was moderated by SBF Chief Executive Officer and Employer and Business Council Co-Chair of ACCORD, Kok Ping Soon. Discussions covered three key areas: the impact of a changing security environment on economic security, ongoing efforts by MINDEF and SAF to strengthen business support for NSmen, and how the business community can continue to enable National Service.
The panellists shared views on maintaining business resilience amid geopolitical shifts and emphasised the importance of safeguarding the institution of National Service. The conversation encouraged organisations to adopt workplace policies that enable NSmen to serve with confidence and reintegrate smoothly into civilian life.
Strong commitment from both SBF and CLI
Speaking at the event, Kok Ping Soon said, “As we commemorate SAF Day, SBF is honoured to organise this event between our nation’s defence and business leaders. A strong, credible defence is the bedrock of Singapore’s economic security and prosperity. In an era of increasing geopolitical volatility, the symbiotic relationship between a robust SAF and a resilient business community has never been more vital. SBF stays committed in ensuring Singapore remains a stable, trusted, and competitive global business hub, as we continue to champion this partnership for our collective success.”

Ervin Yeo added, “We are honoured to have hosted this year’s Combined Rededication Ceremony at Capital Tower together with SBF, especially in this milestone year marking 60 years of the SAF, and 25 years of CapitaLand Group. Singapore’s safety and stability are fundamental to our nation’s continued success in attracting global businesses to anchor here with confidence, and for local enterprises to grow and thrive. The business community plays a key role in supporting National Service and recognising the contributions of NSmen through workplace practices that enable their service and reintegration. CLI remains committed to doing our part in strengthening both economic and national resilience.”
