Adyen launches new payment terminals for retail and F&B sectors

[output_post_excerpt]

Adyen, the global financial technology platform for leading businesses, has launched two new payment terminals, the S1E4 Pro and S1F4 Pro. The devices are designed for use across various sectors, including retail, food and beverage (F&B), hospitality, and beauty and wellness. The launch marks another step forward in Adyen’s expansion of its in-person payment solutions.

S1E4 Pro built for durability and reliability

The S1E4 Pro is a mobile point-of-sale (POS) terminal built to perform in demanding environments such as restaurants, bars, and event venues. It carries an IP-65 rating, making it resistant to spills, dust, and drops up to 1.5 metres. The design focuses on longevity and resilience, ensuring consistent performance in high-traffic service environments where equipment reliability is essential.

The device features a 6.1-inch screen suitable for use in visually challenging settings, along with a practical hand strap for easy handling. It is PCI 6 certified and PCI 7 ready, ensuring compliance with security standards. Powered by a fast processor and an all-day battery, it supports multiple connectivity options, including 4G and Wi-Fi, to maintain uninterrupted service.

The S1E4 Pro runs on Android 13 OS, allowing businesses to integrate existing applications directly into the device. This integration simplifies operations such as order management, payments, and backend processes through a single interface. The terminal accepts all major payment methods and currencies, supporting contactless, chip, swipe, and QR code transactions.

S1F4 Pro offers flexibility and printing capability

The S1F4 Pro is designed for flexibility, functioning as both a countertop POS terminal and a mobile device when detached from its dock. It comes with an integrated printer, providing a significant advantage for retailers and service providers who require receipts on the spot. This capability enables faster customer service, particularly in busy environments, by reducing wait times and improving operational efficiency.

Equipped with Android 13 OS, the terminal allows businesses to handle a range of functions, including payment processing, order management, and loyalty programme tracking. The S1F4 Pro features a 6.7-inch screen, PCI 6 certification with PCI 7 readiness, a fast octa-core processor, and a durable battery for extended use. Additional features include full connectivity via 4G, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet, a QR code scanner, and both front and rear cameras.

Supporting diverse business needs

Derk Busser, Vice President of Product at Adyen, said, “This latest product update underscores our commitment to transforming the in-person payments experience. By listening closely to our customers, we’ve identified the key gaps in both our previous offering as well as the industry. These new terminals are designed to directly address those requirements, whether that be the need for a rugged device in an F&B setting, or a mobile terminal for retailers which can print, we want to offer powerful, reliable tools tailored to the operational demands of a whole range of verticals, each which has unique needs.”

The S1E4 Pro and S1F4 Pro will be available for order in Europe, the UK, North America, New Zealand, and the United Arab Emirates in the first quarter of 2026. The rollout will extend to Mexico, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Singapore in the second quarter of 2026.
