ASUS unveils the NUC 14 Pro+: A compact powerhouse for generative AI

ASUS releases the NUC 14 Pro+, a compact PC designed to efficiently handle generative AI tasks, equipped with Intel Core Ultra processors and capable of supporting up to four 4K displays.

ASUS has announced the launch of the NUC 14 Pro+, an ultracompact PC that excels in performance thanks to the new Intel Core Ultra processors, making it capable of handling generative AI workloads locally with great efficiency.

Enhanced performance features

This model is the first NUC Pro to utilise the Intel Core Ultra 9 processor to manage generative AI tasks directly on the device. The NUC 14 Pro+ is equipped with a trio of AI engines—GPU, NPU, and CPU—which work together to provide higher throughput, reduced power consumption, and quicker response times.

It also features a sleek 5″ x 4″ anodized aluminium chassis with toolless access, making it visually appealing and practical for quick upgrades. This compact yet powerful machine is well-suited for both corporate and home office setups.

Connectivity and multitasking capabilities

The NUC 14 Pro+ boasts extensive I/O connectivity options, including Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort 1.4 and USB4 support, making it a versatile choice for complex setups. It supports up to four 4K displays, allowing for extensive multitasking and a larger visual workspace, which is especially beneficial in environments driven by AI and creative tasks.

The device also offers certified Bluetooth connectivity, providing a seamless experience with various peripherals without the need for dongles. This enhancement ensures a tidy workspace and is ideal for users who value both aesthetics and functionality.

Energy efficiency and innovative design

Responding to consumer feedback, ASUS has marginally increased the size of the chassis to accommodate better hardware while maintaining a compact form that occupies minimal desk space. The unit includes a VESA mounting plate, which increases its adaptability in various settings, such as small or medium-sized enterprises and educational environments.

New to this model is an energy-efficient WiFi Sensing feature that triggers hibernation mode when no movement is detected within a specific range, thus conserving power. The NUC 14 Pro+ also features a newly designed cooling system with a triple 6 mm heat pipe, ensuring the machine runs coolly and efficiently, even under heavy computational loads.

Availability and pricing

The ASUS NUC 14 Pro+ is now on sale worldwide. The starting price is US$902 for the Ultra 5 125H Processor model, US$1,176 for the Ultra 7 155H Processor, and US$1,232 for the Ultra 9 185H Processor. Each unit comes with a three-year limited warranty, highlighting ASUS’s dedication to quality and customer satisfaction.
