China Changan Automobile Group reaches 30 million vehicle milestone
China Changan Automobile Group marks its 30 millionth vehicle milestone, highlighting its EV strategy, safety focus, and global growth plans.
China Changan Automobile Group has reached a major manufacturing milestone with the production of its 30 millionth vehicle, reinforcing its transformation into a global, technology-driven mobility company. The landmark vehicle, an AVATR 12 Quad-Laser Edition, rolled off the production line at the AVATR Digital Intelligence Factory in China, marking a symbolic moment in the group’s evolution towards intelligent and user-centric mobility.
The achievement reflects decades of industrial growth and signals Changan’s ambition to compete at the highest level of the global automotive industry. The group positions the milestone as evidence of its shift beyond traditional vehicle manufacturing towards a broader role in smart, sustainable transportation, supported by advances in electrification, digital systems, and safety technology.
Zhu Huarong, Chairman of China Changan Automobile Group, said the company remains focused on long-term value creation for customers worldwide. “CHANGAN remains committed to delivering smarter, greener, and more fulfilling mobility, meeting the aspirations of global users for a better future,” he said.
Growing footprint in Singapore and Southeast Asia
The production milestone comes as Changan continues to expand its international presence, including in Singapore, where it has introduced two flagship electric vehicle brands, DEEPAL and AVATR. The dual-brand approach reflects a strategy to address different segments of the market while building scale in key global cities.
DEEPAL is positioned for younger, upwardly mobile drivers who value bold design, smart technology, and a dynamic driving experience. The brand entered Singapore with its flagship electric SUV, the DEEPAL S07, which has been well received by local buyers since launch. The model has also gained international recognition after winning the Turin Automotive Design Award. In 2024, DEEPAL ranked among China’s top five best-selling electric vehicle brands, strengthening its position as a mainstream EV contender.
AVATR targets the luxury and premium segment, offering high-end electric vehicles that combine advanced technology with refined design. Its AVATR 11 electric mid-sized SUV has gained early traction in Singapore, particularly among design-conscious consumers seeking premium interiors and high-tech features. Together, the two brands reflect Changan’s intent to play a broader role in Singapore’s accelerating transition towards electric mobility.
Safety, technology and long-term global ambitions
Safety remains a core pillar of Changan’s development strategy, with a history that dates back to 1999, when the company conducted China’s first minivan crash test. Over time, its approach has evolved from passive safety structures to more advanced active safety systems. Changan supports this focus through its State Key Laboratory of Intelligent Vehicle Safety Technology and its proprietary CA-ITVS verification system, which subjects vehicles to more than five million kilometres of testing. This process is designed to support a vehicle lifespan of up to 10 years or 260,000 kilometres.
In the current smart mobility era, Changan has introduced its SDA Intelligence framework, which expands the concept of safety beyond physical protection to include data security and intelligent system safeguards. The company describes this holistic approach as ensuring a “Safe Journey Home” for users across both physical and digital dimensions.
Technology development is guided by Changan’s Green and Intelligent strategies. The Green Plan focuses on electrification, battery safety, and new energy ecosystems, while the Intelligent Plan advances vehicle intelligence, autonomous systems, and connectivity. Key innovations include the Golden Shield Battery system, high-frequency pulse heating technology designed to improve cold-weather efficiency, and the BlueCore 3.0 powertrain platform, which delivers hybrid and internal combustion solutions that balance performance with fuel efficiency.
Looking ahead, Changan has outlined ambitious goals for the end of the decade. By 2030, the group aims to rank among the world’s top 10 automotive brands, supported by annual sales of five million units. It also expects more than 60 percent of its sales to come from new energy vehicles, with 30 percent generated from overseas markets. Beyond automobiles, the company is also exploring future mobility technologies, including the development of humanoid robots, which it plans to introduce by 2028.
