Final arc brings Demon Slayer’s story to cinemas

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle adapts the final storyline from the Demon Slayer manga, which has sold over 150 million copies globally.

The story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a boy whose family was slaughtered by demons, leaving his sister Nezuko cursed as one of them. Determined to find a cure and avenge his family, Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps, an elite group tasked with hunting down demons.

Over the course of the anime, Tanjiro teams up with his friends Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira, while fighting alongside the powerful Hashira, the top-ranked swordsmen of the Demon Slayer Corps. Together, they have faced numerous threats, from the Mugen Train incident to the battles in the Entertainment District and Swordsmith Village.

In Infinity Castle, the Demon Slayer Corps undergoes intense Hashira Training to prepare for their final confrontation with Muzan Kibutsuji, the king of demons. But when Muzan launches a surprise attack on the Ubuyashiki Mansion, the headquarters of the Corps, Tanjiro and the Hashira are thrown into the heart of the Infinity Castle, a terrifying fortress that serves as the demons’ stronghold.

The trilogy will bring this epic battle to life, showcasing the climactic showdown between the Demon Slayer Corps and Muzan’s forces.

A global anime phenomenon

First airing in April 2019, the Demon Slayer anime quickly became a worldwide sensation. Its first feature film, Mugen Train, premiered in October 2020 and shattered records, becoming the highest-grossing Japanese anime movie of all time with box office earnings surpassing US$500 million globally.

The film also earned widespread critical praise, holding a 98% critic score and 99% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on over 10,000 verified reviews.

The anime continued with the Mugen Train Arc and Entertainment District Arc, followed by the Swordsmith Village Arc in 2023, and the Hashira Training Arc in 2024. With Infinity Castle, the story is entering its final chapter, bringing fans one step closer to the conclusion of Tanjiro’s journey.

Fans can stream past seasons of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba now on Crunchyroll, ahead of the film’s release.
