Garmin Singapore has introduced the Index Sleep Monitor, a lightweight and comfortable smart band designed to provide detailed sleep and recovery insights. Worn on the upper arm, the device tracks a range of sleep-related metrics including sleep stages, heart rate variability (HRV), respiration, and skin temperature, helping users gain a more complete understanding of their health and fitness recovery.
With a battery life of up to seven nights and continuous Pulse Ox monitoring, the Index Sleep Monitor is designed to sync automatically with the Garmin Connect smartphone app. The device is especially useful for users who do not wear their smartwatch to bed or want additional health data to complement existing metrics from other Garmin devices.
Mr Scoppen Lin, Assistant General Manager at Garmin Asia, said, “We are thrilled to add the Index Sleep Monitor to our suite of innovative health and wellness products. Wearing this smart sleep band every night can provide in-depth sleep insights and a more complete picture of fitness and recovery so users can wake up ready to seize the day.”
Tracking recovery and wellness overnight
The Index Sleep Monitor provides a detailed analysis of nightly sleep and recovery. Each morning, users receive a sleep score between 0 and 100, based on factors such as sleep duration, stress levels, and the different stages of sleep—light, deep, and REM. The device also tracks HRV to indicate how the body is responding to stress, with categorisations such as balanced, unbalanced, low or poor.
In addition, the smart band monitors blood oxygen saturation through Pulse Ox and observes breathing variations throughout the night. These combined insights help users understand potential disruptions to their breathing during sleep. Respiration rates are also recorded, offering a clearer view of how the body is functioning during rest.
Skin temperature is another key metric, with the device identifying fluctuations that may reflect external conditions, activity levels, or even signs of illness. The data contributes to a wider picture of nightly recovery and can support broader health monitoring goals.
Tailored features for women and daily energy tracking
Women can also benefit from improved menstrual cycle insights through skin temperature tracking, including better predictions for periods and ovulation history. These features can be further supported by the Garmin Connect app, where users can track their cycle or pregnancy and receive guidance on exercise and nutrition.
Another built-in feature is Body Battery energy monitoring, which evaluates whether the body is well-rested or still in need of recovery. When paired with a Garmin smartwatch worn during the day, this feature gives users a more comprehensive, 24-hour overview of their energy levels.
The band also includes stress tracking to highlight whether the previous night’s sleep was restful or disrupted. A smart wake alarm gently vibrates during lighter sleep stages within a selected window, helping users wake up feeling more refreshed.
Availability and retail details
The Index Sleep Monitor is available in two sizes, S-M and L-XL, and has been designed for everyday use. For convenience, the device’s main module can be removed so the band can be machine-washed on a gentle cycle. The product will retail at a suggested price of S$239 and will be available soon at Garmin Brand Stores, Garmin’s official stores on Lazada and Shopee, the Garmin Online Store, Takashimaya, and selected authorised retailers.
