Intel partners with 2K for exclusive Sid Meier’s Civilization VII PC enhancements

Intel partners with 2K to optimise Civilization VII with XeSS graphics and CPU upgrades. Digital bundle launches 11 February 2025.

Intel and 2K have announced an exclusive partnership for the upcoming release of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, ensuring the popular strategy game is fully optimised for Intel processors. This collaboration will include enhanced CPU and GPU performance, along with the introduction of Intel XeSS Super Resolution (XeSS-SR) technology to the series for the first time.

Intel Builder Bundle and enhanced gaming experience

As part of the partnership, Intel and 2K are launching the Intel Builder Bundle, which includes a digital copy of Civilization VII. Starting today, gamers who purchase eligible Intel Core Ultra processors (series 2) or Intel Core desktop processors (14th Gen) from participating retailers will receive a free digital copy of the game upon its release on 11 February 2025. This offer is valid until 31 March 2025 and available globally, excluding China.

Roger Chandler, Intel’s Vice President and General Manager of Enthusiast and Workstation PCs, expressed excitement about the collaboration, “It’s hard to come up with franchises in the PC gaming industry more iconic than Sid Meier’s Civilization, and Intel is thrilled to continue its years-long partnership with 2K Games and Firaxis on the series’ latest instalment. Gamers around the world can depend on Intel Core and Core Ultra processors to deliver the best Civilization experience on a PC.”

XeSS graphics and CPU optimisation for smoother gameplay

In addition to the digital bundle, Intel and 2K are working closely to ensure an optimised gameplay experience for Civilization VII. The game will feature Intel’s XeSS graphics upscaling technology, which enhances visuals and performance, making it a first for the Civilization franchise.

Intel and Firaxis Games have also collaborated on CPU scheduling optimisations for Intel Core Ultra and Intel Core processors. These enhancements are expected to maximise performance across both high-end desktops and mainstream Intel processor-based laptops. Whether you’re using the latest AI-enhanced Intel Core Ultra processors or Intel Core desktop processors, the gameplay experience is set to be exceptional.

Dennis Shirk, Executive Producer at Firaxis Games, shared his enthusiasm for the advancements, “We have spent a significant amount of time and effort with Intel to deliver an exceptional Civilization experience over the years, and we’re excited to do it once again with Civilization VII. The technical innovations Firaxis and Intel are bringing to our latest entry in the franchise are going to elevate the gaming experience once again, and we can’t wait for gamers to experience it for themselves.”

Global availability and release details

The Intel Builder Bundle will be available through participating retailers worldwide, except for China. Gamers purchasing qualifying Intel processors can claim their copy of Civilization VII, ensuring they are ready to download and play the game on launch day.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII will be available for digital download starting 11 February 2025.
