Lenovo launches refreshed data storage portfolio to support enterprise AI modernisation

Lenovo unveils 21 new ThinkSystem and ThinkAgile models to support enterprise AI, modern IT infrastructure, and energy-efficient data storage.

Lenovo expands storage portfolio including new storage arrays, software-defined infrastructure, and advanced hybrid cloud and AI solutions. These are designed to support organisations as they adapt to growing data demands and seek to harness the power of AI across their operations.

Scott Tease, Vice President and General Manager of Lenovo’s Infrastructure Solutions Product Group, said: “The new Lenovo Data Storage Solutions help businesses harness AI’s transformative power with a data-driven strategy that ensures scalability, interoperability, and tangible business outcomes powered by trusted infrastructure.”

He added that the latest solutions are intended to deliver faster time to value and simplify deployment, regardless of where companies are on their IT modernisation journey.

Advancing enterprise AI and hybrid cloud capabilities

Among the key highlights of the launch are the new ThinkAgile SDI V4 Series, which offers full-stack, turnkey solutions that simplify IT infrastructure and speed up AI model inferencing. These systems are optimised for large language model (LLM) workloads and aim to help organisations realise AI outcomes more quickly.

The new ThinkSystem storage arrays offer performance improvements of up to three times faster speeds while significantly reducing energy use. Lenovo claims these arrays can deliver up to 97% energy savings and 99% density improvement compared to systems using traditional 10K HDDs. This helps reduce total cost of ownership and allows data centres to shrink their physical footprint.

Lenovo’s new converged solutions for hybrid cloud and virtualisation also promise flexible scaling of compute and storage. These include the ThinkAgile Converged Solution for VMware, which combines the operational simplicity of ThinkAgile VX Series with the robust data management of the ThinkSystem DG Series. According to Lenovo, these configurations can lower software licensing costs by up to 40% while maximising infrastructure efficiency.

New AI Starter Kits and liquid-cooled infrastructure

To help businesses adopt AI more quickly, Lenovo introduced its AI Starter Kits for the Lenovo Hybrid AI Platform. These pre-validated infrastructure bundles include compute, storage, GPUs and networking, offering a simplified and scalable pathway to deploy inferencing and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) workloads.

The company also launched an industry-first liquid-cooled hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) appliance. This innovation forms part of Lenovo’s GPT-in-a-Box solution within the ThinkAgile V4 range and is designed to handle demanding AI workloads with up to 25% energy savings over previous versions. The goal is to deliver a repeatable, energy-efficient AI infrastructure that enables faster insight generation and return on investment.

Built-in security and enhanced support

Lenovo’s next-generation storage solutions also prioritise cybersecurity and reliability. The ThinkSystem DG and DM storage arrays now feature autonomous ransomware protection powered by machine learning, which can detect and counter threats proactively to enhance cyber resiliency.

The portfolio also integrates Lenovo’s XClarity systems management software, ensuring that storage deployments benefit from secure management, encryption, compliance tracking, and communication capabilities.

To support customers in deploying and maintaining these new technologies, Lenovo offers Premier Enhanced Storage Support, which provides expert assistance and fast response times to help IT teams manage their infrastructure confidently and efficiently.

With this significant refresh, Lenovo aims to help enterprises modernise their infrastructure and unlock AI potential while improving energy efficiency, security, and scalability.
