LG reveals a smart monitor on wheels—but it still needs to be plugged in

LG’s new 31.5" Smart Monitor Swing rolls on wheels and runs webOS, but it still needs a power plug and costs around US$740.

LG has introduced a new smart screen—the Smart Monitor Swing. It’s a 31.5-inch 4K UHD IPS touchscreen with a unique stand built on wheels. This means you can easily move it from room to room. But there’s one catch—you still need to plug it in. That’s right. Unlike LG’s previous mobile monitor, the StanbyME, the Smart Monitor Swing has no built-in battery. So, even though it rolls around, you’ll always need a power socket nearby.

This monitor is built for people who want a flexible and tidy workspace. Whether working from home, creating content, or using it as a display screen in a shop or office, this monitor aims to make things easier and more stylish.

Easy to move and adjust

The Smart Monitor Swing has an adjustable stand that lets you move the screen up or down, tilt it, swivel it side to side, or even turn it upright in portrait mode. This makes it perfect for different tasks. You can use it to watch videos, scroll through social media, run apps, or display info for customers. The wheels on the base make it easy to move around your home or office without lifting.

Setting it up is also quite simple. According to LG’s product video, pressing a button can attach or remove the screen from the stand. It’s an excellent touch for people who want to store or move the monitor between locations.

Works like a smart TV without needing a PC

Another key feature is that you don’t need a computer to use it. Like their smart TVs, the Smart Monitor Swing runs on LG’s webOS system. You can stream shows, browse the internet, join video calls, or download apps directly to the screen. You can do all of this using the touchscreen or the remote that comes with it.

There are plenty of connection options, too. It includes three USB-C ports that support up to 65W of power—great for charging laptops or phones—plus two HDMI ports for game consoles, streaming sticks, or other devices. The built-in stereo speakers should be good enough for most users, so you probably won’t need extra speakers unless you want a bigger sound.

Price and availability

The Smart Monitor Swing has been designed with style in mind. It even has built-in cable management to keep your space neat. LG has also hidden the power adapter inside the stand, giving the monitor a clean and modern look.

Right now, it’s only being released in South Korea. Sales will start on April 24 through LG’s official online store. The monitor is priced at 1,049,000 Won, which is about US$740. LG hasn’t said yet whether it will be sold in other countries.

The Smart Monitor Swing might be worth watching if you value style, convenience, and smart features on one screen.
