OnePlus unveils the much-awaited OnePlus Watch 2 at MWC 2024

Launching on March 4, the OnePlus Watch 2 combines a durable design, pioneering dual-engine architecture, and much more.

After a three-year hiatus, OnePlus has made a triumphant return to the smartwatch scene by introducing the OnePlus Watch 2. This eagerly anticipated release, unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2024, is set to redefine the standards in the wearable technology sector.

A fusion of robust design and cutting-edge technology

The OnePlus Watch 2 isn’t just a statement of style; it’s a perfect blend of elegance and toughness. Enclosed in a sturdy stainless steel chassis and protected by 2.5D curved sapphire glass, this watch perfectly balances aesthetics and durability. It assures durability in harsh conditions by adhering to the latest MIL-STD-810H US military standard. Moreover, its IP68 dust and water resistance and 5ATM water resistance ensure resilience in everyday scenarios.

Pioneering dual-engine architecture for enhanced performance

At its heart, the OnePlus Watch 2 is driven by an innovative Dual-Engine Architecture comprising the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 performance chipset and the BES 2700 MCU Efficiency chipset. This dual-processor approach allows for the Snapdragon W5 to tackle high-demand tasks. At the same time, the efficiency chip manages the real-time operating system (RTOS) and background operations, optimising battery life in the process.

While its battery life, peaking at 100 hours in Smart Mode and 48 hours in heavy usage, doesn’t entirely eclipse its predecessor, it nonetheless competes admirably with industry giants like the Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch.

State-of-the-art features for an enriched user experience

The OnePlus Watch 2 isn’t all about external toughness; it’s packed with features that enhance everyday usability. Equipped with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, it efficiently handles multiple applications and music storage for offline playback. Synced with the OPlus app, the watch offers tracking for over 100 workout types, dual-frequency GPS for accurate location tracking, and detailed insights into sleep patterns and stress levels using heart rate variability.

Using Google’s latest Wear OS 4, it supports all essential apps such as Calendar, Maps, and Assistant, providing a holistic and user-friendly experience.

Availability and pricing

Priced at a competitive US$299.99 (€330), the OnePlus Watch 2 is slated for release on March 4, 2024. It will be available in two chic colours: Radiant Steel and Black Steel. Specific details regarding local availability and pricing are still pending, but this launch is a significant stride for OnePlus in wearable tech.

As we await more information, the OnePlus Watch 2 symbolises OnePlus’s dedication to innovation and quality. Its stylish design, resilience, and advanced features position it as a strong contender in the smartwatch market.
