Crunchyroll launches Gachiakuta global campaign ahead of July premiere

Crunchyroll unveils global campaign and premiere tour for new anime Gachiakuta, set to stream from 6 July.

Crunchyroll has kicked off a worldwide promotional campaign for Gachiakuta, a new shonen anime series set to begin streaming on 6 July. The initiative, called the “Gachiakuta World Takeover,” marks a large-scale collaboration between Crunchyroll, Kodansha, Avex, and animation studio Bones.

The campaign launch includes the official trailer debut, fresh key visuals, and international premiere events in 15 countries and regions. The series promises a gritty, emotional narrative set in a graffiti-inspired world and is expected to appeal strongly to anime fans across different markets.

Trailer, visuals and fan experiences

As part of the launch, Crunchyroll released the first full trailer for Gachiakuta, offering a closer look at the show’s dynamic animation and intense action sequences. The promotional rollout also includes a new concept video, updated visuals, and access to interactive online experiences such as the Gachiakuta Graffiti Maker — a digital platform that lets fans create customised graffiti tags in the style of the show.

“There’s a raw, emotional current in Gachiakuta that will resonate with fans the moment they see it,” said Gita Rebbapragada, Chief Operating Officer at Crunchyroll. “These promotional efforts are designed to match the excitement and intensity of this remarkable story and hook them into an unforgettable narrative journey.”

A behind-the-scenes video titled Behind Gachiakuta is also now available, featuring interviews with creators Kei Urana and Hideyoshi Andou. In the clip, the pair speak about their creative process and the artistic challenge of combining manga with graffiti culture.

Global premieres at anime festivals

Before its official streaming launch, Gachiakuta will be previewed at special advance screenings in major cities and events around the world. The premiere tour includes:

  • Anime Expo, Los Angeles (4 July, 10:00 AM PDT) – Featuring a two-episode screening, an appearance by creators Kei Urana and Hideyoshi Andou, and a panel discussion with producer Naoki Amano. Fans attending can also explore an immersive installation on-site.
  • Japan Expo, Paris (4 July, 11:45 AM CEST)
  • Astor Film Lounge, Berlin (5 July, 6:00 PM CEST)
  • The Space Moderno, Rome (4 July, 6:30 PM CEST)
  • PVR Icon, Mumbai (4 July, time TBA)
  • Antara Shopping Mall, Mexico City (4 July, time TBA)
  • Anime Friends, São Paulo (date TBA)

These screenings aim to build momentum ahead of the official launch, offering fans an early opportunity to experience the show in a festival environment.

Music, characters and voice cast

Crunchyroll has also revealed details of the opening and ending theme songs. The opening track, “HUGs” by Japanese hardcore band Paledusk, matches the series’ intense tone, while the ending theme, “TOMOSHIBI” by DUSTCELL, provides a more introspective counterpoint that reflects the emotional journey of the main character, Rudo.

The announcement introduced two new characters:

  • Regto, voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa, is the man who raised Rudo and gave him a pair of gloves after his parents died.
  • Jabber, voiced by Yuuki Shin, is a member of the Raiders — a gang of outlaws who fight using rings filled with neurotoxins.

Gachiakuta is expected to be one of the biggest new anime releases this season, with its bold aesthetic, emotional core, and global marketing strategy already generating strong interest from fans.
