Alibaba Cloud marks 10 years in Singapore with major AI and cloud expansion

Alibaba Cloud celebrates 10 years in Singapore with global AI tools, new data centres, and expanded services for your digital transformation.

You’re witnessing a major milestone in tech today as Alibaba Cloud celebrates 10 years in Singapore, marking a decade since establishing its international headquarters here. To honour the occasion, the company unveiled new global infrastructure, an advanced AI Global Competency Centre, and upgraded cloud technologies, showing its strong commitment to powering innovation and digital growth across Southeast Asia and beyond.

At the Alibaba Cloud Global Summit, more than 500 business, government, and technology leaders gathered in Singapore to discuss the future of AI, cloud computing, and sustainable digital transformation. This confirms Singapore’s central role as a digital innovation hub for you and other regional stakeholders.

A new AI Global Competency Centre to support businesses and developers

As a business owner, developer, or tech leader, you’ll benefit directly from the launch of Alibaba Cloud’s first AI Global Competency Centre (AIGCC) in Singapore. This centre is designed to help over 5,000 businesses and 100,000 developers by giving you access to powerful AI tools, large-scale computing resources, curated data, and hands-on support.

You can use the AI Innovation Lab, which provides free token credits and personalised services to test real-world AI scenarios. The AIGCC will also co-develop next-generation AI tools with over 1,000 startups and companies and introduce over 10 AI agents for healthcare, logistics, finance, and retail industries.

To ensure a skilled future workforce, the company works with 120+ universities worldwide, aiming to train 100,000 AI professionals annually. So whether you’re hiring or upskilling, you’ll have access to top talent.

New data centres and cloud tools roll out across Southeast Asia

If you operate in the region, Alibaba Cloud’s growing infrastructure will help meet your demand for fast, secure, and reliable services. On July 1, the company launched a third data centre in Malaysia, with another set to open in the Philippines by October. This follows recent expansions in Thailand, Mexico, and South Korea earlier in the year.

Alibaba Cloud also announced upgrades to its Data Transmission Service (DTS) and Platform for AI (PAI) to power your AI solutions. These include a “One Channel for AI” feature, which converts documents, videos, and other content into AI-ready formats. Whether you’re developing chatbots or large-scale models, these updates will help you launch your products faster and with fewer technical hurdles.

New ECS instances, offering 20% better performance and up to 50% faster results in tasks like real-time search and AI workloads, are now rolling out globally, including in Japan, Germany, Malaysia, the UK, and more.

The company also introduced an AI-powered ESG reporting tool under its Energy Expert platform. This solution helps your business meet global sustainability standards and produce ESG reports with ease and accuracy.

International customers tap into Alibaba Cloud’s growing ecosystem

You’re not the only one seeing the value in Alibaba Cloud’s services. Major players like GoTo Group in Indonesia have moved their core operations to Alibaba Cloud, gaining cost savings and business continuity through the MaxCompute platform.

Meanwhile, Singapore-based VisionTech uses Alibaba Cloud’s AI tools to power its chatbots, supporting multiple languages like English, Malay, and Japanese while cutting costs by 25%. FLUX in Japan is adopting Alibaba’s Qwen AI models to drive new solutions in the local market.

In the Middle East, Al-Futtaim Group, which operates in 18 countries, signed a partnership with Alibaba to use Alibaba’s advanced AI models and cloud infrastructure to support its transformation plans and enter new global markets.

With these global success stories and powerful AI tools at your fingertips, Alibaba Cloud is making it easier for businesses like yours to innovate, scale, and lead in a fast-changing digital world.
