Asus ROG launches glossy Strix-class 4K WOLED gaming monitors

Asus ROG introduces the first 4K glossy WOLED gaming monitors, offering high refresh rates, advanced features, and a premium build.

Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) has officially announced the launch of its new glossy OLED gaming monitors, the ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWMG and XG32UCWG. First unveiled at Computex earlier this year, the two models share similar specifications, with the main difference being their refresh rates.

The company positions these as the first 4K glossy WOLED monitors available, targeting a niche that has not yet been served in the gaming market. While not to be confused with QD-OLED technology, which is also found in non-matte displays, these new panels use WOLED combined with a proprietary finish.

Both monitors feature Asus’s exclusive TrueBlack Glossy film, explicitly developed for ROG products. According to the company, this film reduces ambient reflections by 38% compared to earlier glossy WOLED models, enhancing image quality, particularly in darker scenes. This is complemented by the Clear Pixel Edge algorithm, which minimises colour fringing — the green or red outlines sometimes visible around text or fine lines on OLED panels.

Innovative features for performance and longevity

The ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWMG and XG32UCWG also introduce Asus’s Neo Proximity sensor, previously seen in some higher-end ROG monitors. The sensor detects when a user moves away from the desk, automatically dimming the display to reduce burn-in risk, and brightens it again when the user returns.

Both monitors are equipped with 32-inch panels offering 4K resolution. The XG32UCWMG boasts a 240Hz native refresh rate, whereas the XG32UCWG provides a slightly lower 165Hz refresh rate. In both cases, the monitors deliver a grey-to-grey (GtG) response time of just 0.03 milliseconds, ensuring rapid and smooth visual transitions.

Gamers can also take advantage of Asus’s Dual Mode function, which trades resolution for higher refresh rates. By switching from 4K to Full HD, the refresh rate increases to 480Hz on the XG32UCWMG and 330Hz on the XG32UCWG. The mode is activated via a dedicated toggle beneath the ROG logo on the front panel.

Connectivity and availability details

In addition to gaming-focused features, the monitors support Auto KVM, allowing users to switch between connected devices with ease. Connectivity options include two HDMI 2.1 ports, a USB-C port with 15W power delivery, a headphone jack, and a DisplayPort 1.4 with Display Stream Compression (DSC). DisplayPort 2.1 is not included.

The ROG Strix OLED XG32UCWMG will retail at S$1,549, while the XG32UCWG will be priced at S$1,349. Both models are set to be available from mid-September 2025.
