HyperX unveils new gaming headsets and microphones with extended battery life

HyperX launches new headsets and microphones, including the Cloud Alpha 2, which boasts 250 hours of battery life, as well as new streaming microphones.

HP-owned HyperX has announced a new range of gaming headsets and microphones, led by its flagship HyperX Cloud Alpha 2. Priced at US$299.99, the headset promises up to 250 hours of battery life on a single charge when using the 2.4GHz wireless connection. This equates to more than 10 days of continuous use, making it one of the longest-lasting wireless gaming headsets currently available.

When connected to both Bluetooth and 2.4GHz wireless networks simultaneously, battery life is reduced to approximately half, although it remains substantial. The headset is fitted with 53mm drivers to deliver powerful sound, while a base station is included as part of the package. The base station features six customisable light-up buttons alongside an extensive rotary volume control, designed to give players quick and easy access to their preferred settings.

More affordable headset options

Alongside its premium model, HyperX is introducing the Cloud Flight 2, a more budget-friendly option. The headset features RGB side panels and will be priced at US$129.99 for PlayStation and PC users, while the Xbox version will cost slightly more at US$139.99.

Although not offering the extreme battery performance of the Cloud Alpha 2, the Cloud Flight 2 aims to strike a balance between affordability, design, and everyday usability for gamers who want a wireless experience without paying top-tier prices. HyperX has confirmed that the Cloud Flight 2 will be released in October, making it the only product in the new line-up not available immediately.

New microphones for streamers and podcasters

HyperX is also targeting streamers and podcasters with two new microphone releases. The SoloCast 2, a side-address desktop microphone, is set to launch at US$59.99. It is designed for those seeking a simple, reliable entry-level microphone that delivers clear audio without complicated setup.

At the higher end of the range is the HyperX FlipCast, described as a “broadcast quality” microphone for podcasting and live streaming. Retailing at US$229.99, the FlipCast bears a strong resemblance to Shure’s MV7 microphone, featuring both USB and XLR connectivity as well as RGB lighting for added style. The inclusion of dual ports ensures flexibility for users who want professional-grade recording options, alongside the convenience of plug-and-play functionality.

The majority of HyperX’s new products, including the flagship Cloud Alpha 2 and both microphones, are expected to launch this month. The Cloud Flight 2 will follow later, with its release scheduled for October.

With its combination of ultra-long battery life, flexible connectivity, and options tailored for different budgets and needs, HyperX’s latest line-up appears designed to appeal to a broad spectrum of gamers and content creators alike.
