Synology introduces AI-powered Office Suite with new AI Console

[output_post_excerpt]

Synology has unveiled an update to its Office Suite, introducing advanced AI features across MailPlus, Office, and the newly launched Synology AI Console. The enhancements are designed to help organisations adopt AI tools securely while maintaining full control over privacy and data governance.

Enhancing productivity with AI in MailPlus and Office

The latest version of Synology MailPlus now integrates generative AI to improve email management. Users can quickly summarise long email threads, receive suggested follow-ups, and generate context-aware smart replies with a single click. The system also allows replies to be tailored using previous messages or stored templates, making email communication faster and more precise.

In Synology Office, the new AI tools assist users in drafting, proofreading, and refining text. Spreadsheet users can locate formulas using natural language queries, while entire documents and presentations can be translated instantly to support multilingual collaboration. The AI Assistant is further integrated with Synology Drive, ensuring that suggestions are drawn from an organisation’s stored files, which helps improve accuracy and relevance.

Centralised control with Synology AI Console

The introduction of Synology AI Console provides IT teams with a single platform to manage AI deployments. The system integrates with leading AI providers, allowing organisations to select models that best suit their requirements without extra integration costs. To prevent unauthorised use, administrators can configure role-based access and set token limits to control resource usage.

Privacy and compliance are central to the AI Console’s design. Built-in de-identification automatically removes sensitive data in line with company policies before it is shared with external AI services. Additionally, all AI interactions are logged, with detailed transaction and admin records available for auditing.

Supporting secure AI adoption

According to Rex Huang, Director of Synology’s Enterprise Application Group, businesses want to benefit from AI while staying compliant with privacy regulations. “Generative AI is rapidly transforming business workflow, but data privacy and compliance remain key concerns for adoption. Synology’s AI-powered productivity solutions are engineered to help organisations confidently boost productivity and employee efficiency while giving IT teams the flexibility to deploy authorised models, control usage and costs, and prevent shadow AI, ensuring full data ownership,” he said.

By combining its private cloud infrastructure with governance-focused AI deployment, Synology aims to offer enterprises a balance between innovation and control. The updated AI-enabled Office Suite is now available for download, with detailed release notes available for Office, MailPlus, and AI Console.
