AMD launches new Ryzen AI PRO 300 series processors for next-gen business PCs

AMD unveils its third-generation Ryzen AI PRO 300 series processors, designed to boost productivity, security, and battery life for next-gen business laptops.

AMD has introduced its third generation of commercial AI mobile processors, the Ryzen AI PRO 300 Series, designed to elevate business productivity with cutting-edge AI capabilities. Unveiled on 10 October 2024, these processors boast features like live captioning, language translation during conference calls, and advanced AI image generation, aiming to transform the way professionals work. The processors offer up to three times the AI performance of their predecessors, alongside exceptional performance for day-to-day tasks.

Equipped with AMD’s PRO Technologies, the new processors also provide advanced security and management features to optimise IT operations, delivering great value for businesses.

Cutting-edge architecture and unmatched performance

The Ryzen AI PRO 300 series features AMD’s new “Zen 5” architecture, designed to handle the most demanding business tasks. These processors are regarded as the best for enterprise PCs powered by Copilot+ technology. The top-tier model, the Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 375, boasts a performance increase of up to 40% and delivers productivity that is up to 14% faster than Intel’s Core Ultra 7 165U.

What sets this series apart is the integrated XDNA 2 architecture, which powers the Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This NPU provides an impressive 50+ TOPS (Trillions of Operations Per Second), surpassing the requirements for Microsoft’s Copilot+ AI PCs. The processors are built using a 4nm process and are designed to extend battery life, making them ideal for professionals who need consistent performance on the go.

Jack Huynh, senior vice president and general manager of AMD’s Computing and Graphics Group, shared his enthusiasm for the new processors, stating, “Our third-generation AI-enabled processors for business PCs deliver unprecedented AI processing capabilities with incredible battery life and seamless compatibility for the applications users depend on.”

Expanding the commercial ecosystem

AMD continues to broaden its commercial ecosystem, with more than 100 Ryzen AI PRO PCs expected to be launched by 2025. These PCs will bring new possibilities in local AI processing, enabled by Microsoft’s Copilot+ technology. New systems powered by these processors are expected to hit the shelves later this year, catering to business customers with high performance and compatibility demands.

Microsoft’s corporate vice president for Windows+ Devices, Pavan Davuluri, highlighted the collaboration between AMD and Microsoft, saying, “The Ryzen AI PRO’s performance, combined with the latest features in Windows 11, enhances productivity, efficiency, and security.” This partnership aims to provide businesses with intuitive, responsive, and secure devices powered by AMD’s technology.

HP and Lenovo have also partnered with AMD to integrate the new processors into their latest AI-powered business laptops. HP’s president of Personal Systems, Alex Cho, emphasised that the HP EliteBook X Next-Gen AI PC is designed to empower modern business leaders, while Lenovo’s president of Intelligent Devices Group, Luca Rossi, announced the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 AMD, which delivers high-performance AI computing power and extended battery life.

Enhanced security and management features

AMD’s Ryzen AI PRO 300 series processors come with enhanced security features, building on the company’s existing security architecture. The PRO Technologies suite now includes Cloud Bare Metal Recovery for seamless system recovery via the cloud, ensuring smooth business operations. Additionally, AMD Device Identity adds traceability across the supply chain, while Watch Dog Timer strengthens the system’s resilience by detecting and recovering from potential issues.

With AI-based malware detection available through selected software partners, the integrated NPU can run security tasks without affecting everyday performance. These features ensure that AMD’s latest processors provide not only advanced computing power but also strong security for business users.

With the launch of the Ryzen AI PRO 300 series, AMD is pushing the boundaries of AI computing in business PCs, offering solutions that enhance productivity, security, and efficiency.
