Apple reportedly plans three additional iOS 27 features for autumn release
Apple is reportedly preparing a new watch face, a Camera app redesign, and expanded AI chatbot support for iOS 27.
Apple may introduce three additional iOS 27 features later this year that were not highlighted during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 presentation, according to a new report from Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman.
In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman reported that Apple is developing a new watch face, a redesigned and customisable Camera app, and expanded support for third-party artificial intelligence chatbots within Siri. Although these features were not showcased during WWDC 2026, Gurman said some of them are already present in the iOS 27 developer beta, suggesting that Apple intends to roll them out in future updates.
The report comes after Apple devoted much of its WWDC 2026 event to Apple Intelligence, its growing suite of AI-powered features. However, the company appears to be continuing work on several other software improvements that could arrive alongside new hardware launches expected later this year.
New watch face and Camera app could arrive with hardware updates
According to Gurman, Apple is preparing a new watch face that may launch when the company refreshes its smartwatch line-up in the autumn. The feature is expected to build on existing Apple Watch designs, offering users another option for personalising their devices.
Earlier rumours suggested that Apple has been developing a watch face inspired by the Modular Ultra design currently exclusive to the Apple Watch Ultra. The new version is expected to be simpler and compatible with the wider Apple Watch range, making some of the Ultra’s design elements available to more users.
Gurman also expects Apple to introduce a redesigned Camera app alongside the anticipated launch of the iPhone 18 Pro. While the updated app does not currently appear in the iOS 27 developer beta, previous reports indicated that Apple has been working on a more flexible camera interface.
The reported redesign would allow users to decide which camera functions are displayed and where they are positioned within the app. Such a change could make it easier for users to access frequently used controls while reducing on-screen clutter. Apple has not publicly confirmed the feature, but Gurman’s report suggests it remains under development.
Siri may gain support for additional AI chatbots
Apple is also said to be working on broader chatbot integration within Siri as part of its ongoing AI strategy. The feature would allow users to switch between Apple’s own AI services and third-party chatbot platforms directly through Siri.
At present, the iOS 27 developer beta supports switching between Siri and ChatGPT. However, Gurman reported that Apple intends to expand those options in future releases, giving users access to a wider range of AI models.
The proposed system could eventually include support for services such as Gemini and Claude, allowing users to choose the AI assistant that best suits their needs. This approach would mirror the growing trend among technology companies to offer users greater flexibility when interacting with generative AI tools.
Gurman said the number of available chatbot options will “get longer in the future”, indicating that Apple sees third-party AI integration as an important part of Siri’s development. Such a move could help the company remain competitive as AI assistants become a more significant feature across smartphones and connected devices.
While Apple has not officially announced these additions, the presence of some features within the developer beta suggests that they remain active projects. If development proceeds as expected, the new watch face, Camera app enhancements and expanded chatbot support could arrive alongside Apple’s autumn hardware launches.
