Casio unveils its first digital ring: A miniature watch for your finger

Casio celebrates 50 years of digital watches with the CRW-001-1JR, a sleek digital ring watch with time-only features, which will launch in December 2024.

Casio has introduced its first digital ring, the CRW-001-1JR, marking 50 years of innovation in the digital watch industry. This new creation is purely a watch, unlike other smart or digital rings. It doesn’t track fitness or health metrics like heart rate, sleep, or steps. Instead, it focuses solely on displaying time, embracing simplicity in a world of ever-evolving smart technology.

A watch in ring form

The CRW-001-1JR is inspired by Casio’s traditional digital watches. It features a small 7-segment LCD screen that shows the time in hours, minutes, and seconds. For added functionality, the ring has three buttons. These allow you to switch between the date display, activate a dual-time feature, and use a stopwatch.

This digital ring is made of durable stainless steel and weighs just 16 grams. Its minimalist design combines practicality with style. The device is also waterproof, ensuring it’s suitable for daily use. Powered by a replaceable battery, the ring offers an impressive lifespan of up to two years before needing a replacement.

Pricing and availability

Casio plans to release the CRW-001-1JR digital ring watch in Japan in December 2024. It will be available for ¥19,800, which is approximately S$172. This unique piece is expected to appeal to those who appreciate the fusion of functionality and classic digital watch design.

While it may not offer advanced features like health tracking, the CRW-001-1JR stands out as a tribute to Casio’s legacy of simple and effective timekeeping.
