Clio launches AI-powered Clio Duo in Singapore to support legal professionals

Clio launches Clio Duo in Singapore, offering law firms AI tools to improve productivity, ensure privacy, and streamline legal workflows.

Clio, the world’s largest legal technology platform, has officially launched its AI tool, Clio Duo, in Singapore and across the wider APAC region. The launch marks a key milestone in the company’s continued efforts to help law firms operate more efficiently and serve clients more effectively through purpose-built technology.

The new tool arrives in Singapore following a successful rollout in the United States, where Clio took a deliberate and measured approach to AI development. Unlike general-purpose AI tools, Clio Duo has been designed specifically for legal professionals and integrates deeply with Clio Manage, the company’s practice management platform.

Supporting law firms with practical AI applications

Clio Duo functions as an intelligent assistant, helping legal professionals reduce time spent on routine tasks such as drafting emails, summarising documents, retrieving matter details, and recommending time entries. By automating these administrative functions, the tool enables lawyers to focus more on high-value work.

“We’re thrilled to introduce Clio Duo to the market—a powerful AI built on a foundation of trust and value for legal professionals,” said Denise Farmer, General Manager, APAC at Clio. “Law firms across Singapore are eager for secure, integrated, and genuinely useful AI solutions. With its deep integration with Clio Manage and strong focus on privacy, Clio Duo empowers firms to enhance operations without compromising client trust or ethical obligations.”

According to Clio, early access users in the region have already experienced improvements in efficiency and service delivery. One pilot user, Femke van der Hoeven from Collective Family Law, noted, “We are very encouraged by the progress of Duo’s AI tools, particularly in enhancing administrative efficiency and delivering insightful document summaries. The platform already adds real value to our operations, demonstrating clear benefits in streamlining workflows. Duo is becoming an essential asset in supporting our day-to-day legal work.”

Unlike open-source or consumer-grade AI products, Clio Duo is designed to meet the needs of legal practitioners. It works exclusively with a firm’s existing Clio data and does not train on any client information, ensuring data remains private and secure. Audit logs and strict access controls are built in to support transparency and compliance.

The tool also addresses ethical concerns raised by legal professionals regarding the use of generative AI. By limiting data access to authorised users and maintaining full audit trails, Clio Duo helps firms meet their professional responsibilities while embracing innovation.

This approach comes amid rising adoption of AI across the legal sector. Clio’s recent Legal Trends Report found that 79% of firms are already using AI in some form, with over 80% expecting to increase their use within the next year. Meanwhile, 70% of clients now say they are open to or even prefer working with firms that use AI to enhance their services.

A strategic expansion into APAC

The launch of Clio Duo in Singapore is part of the company’s wider growth plans for the region, following Clio’s US$1 billion acquisition of vLex—widely recognised as the largest legal tech deal in history. This acquisition significantly expands Clio’s AI capabilities and underscores its long-term investment in the Asia-Pacific legal technology landscape.

With Clio Duo now available to all Clio Manage customers in Singapore and APAC, the company aims to position itself as a trusted technology partner for firms navigating the evolving legal services landscape. The platform’s AI capabilities are designed not only to improve productivity but also to help firms move towards more value-based services and accessible legal solutions.
