Crunchyroll is celebrating the second anniversary of its Game Vault service, a feature that combines anime and gaming for its Mega and Ultimate Fan members. Since launching in November 2023, the platform has become a curated library of anime and anime-inspired games, offering over 500 hours of gameplay and content worth more than US$1,200. The service now includes 75 exclusive titles, all available without ads or in-app purchases, and maintains an average Metacritic score of 75.
Game Vault has been designed as an extension of Crunchyroll’s vast anime streaming catalogue, offering fans the chance to experience the worlds behind their favourite shows. Titles such as Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town, Corpse Party, and Classroom of the Elite – Merge Puzzle Special Exam – allow players to explore interactive versions of popular anime stories. Many games have been localised for audiences outside Japan and are offered without microtransactions.
Expanding access with new ports and updates
Out of the 75 titles in Game Vault, 50 have been launched as brand-new mobile ports, giving developers the opportunity to reach new players and devices. Among the newly released games are Shogun Showdown, a Pocket Gamer Game of the Year contender, and Metal Slug Tactics, a turn-based tactical RPG that reimagines the well-known action franchise for mobile users.
Crunchyroll has also worked with developers to reintroduce classic titles with improved features. Crypt of the NecroDancer has been optimised for modern devices, adding previously unavailable content and multiplayer support. Similarly, Thunder Ray now features refined touch controls and compatibility with game controllers, providing an enhanced mobile arcade boxing experience. This blend of fresh releases and revitalised classics aims to create a balanced and evolving collection for fans.
Highlights and upcoming releases
Among the standout titles in the Crunchyroll Game Vault are Eternights, River City Girls, Two Strikes, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, Kawaii Kitchen, and Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Mobile. Each title showcases a unique take on anime culture, ranging from action and strategy to slice-of-life adventures.
Crunchyroll has also announced two major additions to the platform. Lost Hellden, a French-developed JRPG with hand-painted 3D visuals by Takeshi Oga and music by renowned composer Hitoshi Sakimoto, will make its mobile debut exclusively through Game Vault. Additionally, Beyblade X Xone, based on the Beyblade Xtreme Battle anime, will join the line-up soon, further expanding the platform’s range of premium mobile adventures.
