Dat Bike secures US$22 million to accelerate Vietnam’s electric mobility shift

Dat Bike secures US$22 million in Series B funding to expand production, R&D, and partnerships as Vietnam pushes for electric mobility.

Dat Bike, Vietnam’s leading electric motorbike startup, has raised US$22 million in a Series B funding round, doubling its total capital to US$47 million. The investment will support manufacturing expansion, research and development, and wider distribution as the company aims to lead the country’s transition to sustainable mobility.

Strong investor backing

The funding round was led by F.C.C., a Tokyo-listed clutch manufacturer, and Rebright Partners, a venture capital firm with bases in Japan and Singapore. Jungle Ventures, an early backer of Dat Bike and one of Southeast Asia’s most established venture capital firms, also joined the round.

“We’ve backed Dat Bike since their earliest days at seed, and the conviction has only grown over the last five years,” said Rishab Malik, Partner of Seed Investments at Jungle Ventures. “Vietnam is at a tipping point in electrification of the two-wheeler mobility ecosystem, and Dat Bike is one of the few companies building the entire EV stack locally.”

Other participants included Cathay Venture, the investment arm of Taiwan’s Cathay Financial, and AiViet Venture, supported by leaders from FPT, MoMo, Galaxy, and Kyber Network.

Scaling up for growth

The fresh capital will allow Dat Bike to expand its production facilities with advanced tooling and automation, boosting capacity to meet increasing demand. The company also plans to accelerate research and development to improve core technologies and develop new electric models.

Its retail and service networks will be enhanced, offering customers a more seamless and personalised experience. At the same time, partnerships with ride-hailing companies and financing providers will make electric motorbikes more accessible to riders nationwide.

F.C.C. will also enter a strategic partnership with Dat Bike, supplying electric components and collaborating on efforts to promote sustainable mobility in Vietnam and across ASEAN. An F.C.C. spokesperson noted that the alliance aligns with its long-term vision of responding to local needs while contributing to a greener transport system.

Building Vietnam’s EV ecosystem

Founded in 2019, Dat Bike has established itself as Vietnam’s fastest-growing electric motorbike producer. Unlike competitors that depend heavily on imports, the company has built a domestic supply chain and conducts much of its research and development in-house, from chassis and battery packs to the full software stack.

This high level of integration allows Dat Bike to control quality and costs more effectively, offering high-performance bikes at prices that can compete with internal combustion engine motorcycles. Its flagship Quantum S-series has been embraced by tens of thousands of riders across Vietnam, demonstrating the company’s role in advancing the country’s electrification efforts.

Son Nguyen, CEO of Dat Bike, said the latest milestone marked the start of a new growth phase. “With the solid backing of world-class investors, we now have the momentum to accelerate growth and bring green transportation to millions of people in Vietnam and beyond,” he said.
