DJI introduces RS 4 Mini, a lightweight gimbal for creators

DJI unveils the RS 4 Mini, a compact and lightweight gimbal with intelligent tracking, enhanced stabilisation, and quick setup for content creators.

DJI, a global leader in drone and camera technology, has launched the DJI RS 4 Mini, a compact and lightweight gimbal designed for both cameras and smartphones. Weighing just 890g (less than 2 pounds), the RS 4 Mini supports a maximum payload of 2kg (4.4 pounds), making it an ideal stabilisation tool for content creators who need a quick and efficient filming setup.

The RS 4 Mini introduces automated axis locks, a feature first seen in DJI’s flagship gimbals, allowing for faster setup, transitions, and breakdowns. It also includes intelligent tracking, improved vertical shooting capabilities, and a Teflon-coated balancing system for a smoother filming experience.

“The Ronin Series continues to push the imaging industry forward as we bring new innovations to our ecosystem and democratise technology to more applications,” said Ferdinand Wolf, Product Experience Director at DJI. “The DJI RS 4 Mini continues to feature our Emmy Award-winning three-axis gimbal stabilisation, offering seamlessly smooth and steady footage. By adding this model, we have rounded out this generation of stabilisers to cater to every level of creator, from professional filmmakers to independent videographers and content creators.”

Enhanced design for faster workflow

The RS 4 Mini is packed with features designed to streamline the filming process. The 2nd-Gen auto-axis locks allow users to unlock all three axes in just one second, significantly reducing setup and transition times.

With the 3rd-Gen Native Vertical Switch, creators can switch to vertical shooting faster than ever before. Additionally, the Teflon-coated interlayers and fine-tuning knob ensure more precise balancing for cameras, improving stability and ease of use.

Advanced tracking and smooth filming modes

The RS 4 Mini Combo comes equipped with the new DJI RS Intelligent Tracking Module, enabling ActiveTrack on any camera system or smartphone—whether or not the DJI Ronin app is in use. It can track a subject up to 10 metres away, even in complex environments, with tracking activated via a trigger button or an open-palm gesture.

For added versatility, the Responsive mode enables faster gimbal reactions to hand movements, making it ideal for dynamic circling shots, while the Smooth follow mode provides a more fluid response for traditional tracking shots.

Other notable features include:

  • 4th-Gen Stabilisation – Delivers enhanced camera movement and tactile control, ensuring stable footage even in vertical shooting.
  • Extended Battery Life – Offers 30% more battery life than the DJI RS 3 Mini, with a 13-hour runtime. A 30-minute charge provides up to five hours of use.
  • Lightweight Build, High Payload – Weighs just 890g (2 lbs) but supports up to 2kg (4.4 lbs), making it compatible with mainstream mirrorless cameras and lens combinations.
  • Next-Gen RS Briefcase Handle – A 20% smaller and 28g lighter redesigned handle provides a more compact and comfortable grip.
  • Quick-Release Magnetic Mount – The tracking module attaches securely to the tilt axis in just one second, ensuring a stable and efficient setup.
